Many innovations in biotechnology are derivatives of a naturally occurring biological process. RNAi and the CRISPR-Cas 9 system are both contemporary examples of this. These techniques offer clear advantages with respect to basic research, the potential to treat disease, and the ability to edit genes with great accuracy. With technology, however, comes responsibility. Just because you can do something, in vitro or in vivo, doesn't always mean that you should do it. So where do you draw the line?.
