       Malvolio-twelfth night
Twelfth night
•   Set in the mythical land Illyria
•   Comedy
•   The main conflict is a person vs. person
•   Malvolio-secondary character with his own
    sub-plot
Synopisis
Vola has been in a ship wreck and just “lost” her twin brother
Sebastian. Vola disguises as a man called Cesario. Cesario works
for the duke delivering love letters to Olivia. Sebastian (Viola's
twin, presumed dead) comes ashore in Illyria thinking that Viola
has drowned in the shipwreck. A man named Antonio rescued
him from the sea. Olivia falls in love with Cesario who is Vola in
disguise. Vola is in love with the duke who loves Olivia this
causes a complicated love triangle.
Conflict-Malvolio
• Malvolio’s main conflict-Sir Andrew suggests
  duelling Malvolio but Maria has a better idea she
  suggests they play a practical joke on Malvolio. She
  tells sir toby and sir Andrew that her writing is very
  similar to Olivia's she says she will write Malvolio a
  love letter and say it is from Olivia. They all agree this
  is a good idea to get revenge on Malvolio.
Main conflict person vs. person
• Viola is in love with the duke who is in love
  with Olivia, who is in love with Viola’s male
  disguise, Cesario. This love triangle is
  complicated as neither the duke or Olivia
  knows that Viola is really a woman.
Plot summary
• Exposition-introduces most of the characters
  of the main plot. Viola's disguise as Cesario
  also initiates the love triangle, for Viola falls in
  love with the Duke at first sight, while the
  Duke is in love with Olivia
Plot summary
• Exiting force-Sebastian Viola's twin brother
  traveling to the duke’s court. Olivia declares
  her love for Cesario/Viola indirectly through a
  ring sent to her.
• Conflict- Viola is in love with the duke who is
  in love with Olivia, who is in love with Viola’s
  male disguise, Cesario.
Plot summary
Turning point- Sebastian and Viola are reunited,
and everyone realizes that Viola is really a
woman
falling action-Viola prepares to marry Orsino;
Malvolio is freed and vows revenge; everyone
else goes off to celebrate
Plot summary
• Conclusion- Orsino realizes that he loves Viola,
  now that he knows she is a woman, and asks
  her to marry him. Sebastian and Olivia are
  married. Sebastian and Orsino realizes that he
  loves Viola, now that he knows she is a
  woman, and asks her to marry him. Viola are
  reunited.
Malvolio changes over the play.
Malvolio was a loyal steward to Olivia. He had a
lot of respect for Olivia. He did not get along
with Sir Andrew, Sir Toby and Maria. He is
pranked and sent a fake letter from Olivia and
falls madly in love with Olivia he goes crazy over
her. Olivia thinks he is crazy and locks him up
