This presentation discusses the evolution of manufacturing through the different industrial revolutions and the current state of manufacturing in Malaysia. It covers the transition from manual labor to mechanization in Industry 2.0 to increased automation and quality control in Industry 3.0. China emerged as the "World Factory" through low manufacturing costs but is now facing challenges that are driving automation. Industry 4.0 technologies like cyber-physical systems and the Internet of Things are bringing manufacturing back to countries like Germany through smart factories. For Malaysian manufacturing, especially SMEs, implementing robotics and factory automation is key to competing globally and overcoming reliance on low-cost labor.
