According to surveys conducted between 2009-2012, many employees feel pressure to work outside of standard hours. 80% of people surveyed worked an average of 7 hours at home per week after leaving the office, and 38% checked work emails during dinner. 40% of employees reported an increased workload in the past year, while 36% of employers saw improved productivity from pushing for greater output. 70% of employees worked beyond their schedules and on weekends, with over half citing self-imposed pressure as the reason.
