Recognizing the core problems in construction productivity and answering them.
Ways to increase productivity in construction through innovation and digital strategy.
Charles Rountree led efforts to ensure high quality and safety standards were met for the $175 million Stapleton redevelopment project involving 16 homebuilders and 5 commercial contractors. He integrated lean approaches into contractors' schedules to meet infrastructure specifications and right-of-way standards that would be transferred to different maintaining entities. Through collaborative weekly and daily meetings, Charles and his team established clear quality criteria, tracked performance, and implemented plan-do-check-act processes and pull planning to integrate quality assurance and safety into production schedules. This approach aimed for zero defects, injuries, or damage through root cause analysis of incidents.
This document outlines the scientific method applied to facilities planning and management. It discusses how the typical approach has become unbalanced and results-oriented, with less emphasis on planning. The scientific method of plan-do-check-act is presented as a better model, with planning at the core. Key steps in the planning process are then outlined, including gathering facts, due diligence, approvals, and optimization to meet business needs rather than just completing pieces.

Software Architecture in the age of Cloud ComputingJaroslav Gergic
The age of cloud computing presents the software architects with a unique set of opportunities as well as a unique set of challenges. Designing, building, and operating applications at cloud scale has changed the very nature of software architecture discipline to accommodate a much larger set of objectives and skills. Prior to the cloud era, software architecture was primarily about fulfilling functional requirements while maintaining code modularity and meeting a narrow set of non-functional requirements, such as performance. The cloud-era architect needs to accommodate not only functional requirements and customer-defined throughput and performance requirements, but also a large set of non-functional requirements related to cyber security, compliance, and most notably also the financial/cost characteristics, which at cloud scale can make or break a software-as-a-service company. The whole discipline of software architecture just became not only wider to accommodate all the above aspects, but also deeper as cloud-scale architecture spans all layers of software all the way down to operating system kernel tuning and in the case of private cloud also requires hardware know-how and hardware assembly design closely aligned with high-level application workload requirements to achieve reasonable performance and economics at cloud scale.
Fall accidents are the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in the US construction industry. While the number of construction-related fall fatalities has declined between 2006-2010, falls still account for about one-third of construction industry work-related deaths. OSHA data also shows that failure to provide fall protection is the most frequently cited violation. Falls in construction typically result in more serious injuries, with average missed work time of at least 10 days. Falls also reflect the highest costs of worker's compensation and medical expenses compared to other construction accidents.

Organizational capital and design appear more important in services, while research and development and computerized information are more significant in manufacturing. The analysis provides a more comprehensive assessment of the occupations involved in KBC compared to previous literature.
Implement Prioritization Techniques To Manage Teams Workload Complete DeckSlideTeam
Prioritization is a form of risk management as by prioritizing the list of features, it manages the risks of cost and value of the project. We always create the least costly yet highest value feature of the project which minimizes the risk. This will further minimize the social and technical risk associated with the project. The objective of this template is to help the company to manage the teams workload and hit deadlines as well as identify the most important tasks and spend more time, energy, and attention on the right things. We have covered the current situation analysis of the company wherein we have shared the companys productivity and revenues for 5 years and project completion Gantt chart covering the completion and delay time period of the current ongoing projects. The need for prioritizing tasks has been covered which focusses on decreasing revenues, project failure, poor resource allocation, etc. Furthermore, the challenges faced by the company along with their possible solutions are considered here. Different models of prioritization techniques are covered in detail such as lean prioritization, MoSCoW, Kano, RICE and ICE. The comparison of these techniques are done and the best one is utilized in the company to prioritize the projects and their tasks. We have also focused on the measurable impact of prioritization techniques in the business such as increased revenues, satisfied customers, better communication, etc. Various dashboards that manage the project task list on the priority basis and project management tool are considered in this template. https://bit.ly/30gHBpz
Integrated Project Delivery and Building Information Modelingrobnjoro
Building information modeling (BIM) is an integrated process that allows professionals to explore a project digitally before construction by using coordinated, consistent information. BIM can be used to design innovative projects, visualize and simulate real-world performance, accurately document projects, and deliver projects faster and more economically. BIM is important for civil engineers as it allows for multidiscipline coordination, direct communication to reduce errors, simulation and analysis to optimize designs, and visualization to explore and validate designs and communicate with stakeholders. BIM workflows can improve processes by reducing errors, enabling better collaboration, developing better designs, and addressing economic challenges through potential schedule reductions.
Effects of Digitalization in the Steel Industry.pdfssuser9811f01
This document discusses a master's thesis project that aims to assess the potential economic impacts of digitalization projects in the steel industry. The thesis begins with background on how digitalization is revolutionizing industries and the importance for steel companies to adopt new technologies.
