This document provides tips on how to take a stand and express an opinion on issues. It encourages looking at your own experiences and collecting information on topics before stating your standpoint. Examples are given of agreeing or disagreeing with issues and providing a viewpoint using phrases like "in my opinion" and stating reasons. Students are taught to know right from wrong, narrate their opinion properly, and always base their facts. A checklist is also included to identify sentences that do or do not express an opinion. The document aims to teach students how to voice their views confidently through making informed choices and defending their positions.

To make a stand is to
determine whether you agree
or disagree, to defend and to
oppose or commend
something.

“I have no doubt that...”
“There's no doubt in my mind that...”

Tip #1: Look at your own
experiences.

reduces the energy required to process and
deliver it to homes, businesses, farms, and
communities, which, in turn, helps to
reduce pollution and conserve fuel

of drinkable water and that fact alone is
enough reason why we must conserve
