The document provides information on exploration works conducted by Colombia Mining Corporation La Magdalena on various mining license areas along the Magdalena River in Colombia between February 2009 and an unspecified future date. Sampling, magnetic surveys, laboratory analysis and metallurgical tests were carried out on the licenses to analyze mineral content and concentrations. Short term plans included further sampling, drilling and magnetic separation tests to identify mineral resources with potential for economic extraction and processing.
3. 1. INTRODUCTION PROJECT MAGDALENA is named after the Magdalena River (Spanish Rio Magdalena) which is the principal river of Colombia running about 1540 km from south to north through the western half of the country it is navigable through much of its lower reaches. Its headwaters are in the south of the country where the Andean sub-ranges Cordillera Central and Cordillera Oriental separate . The river then runs east of north in a great valley between the two cordilleras at high velocity. It reaches the great port city of Barranquilla still at high sluice velocity carrying all the eroded heavy minerals of Colombia in its sediment load which then empties into the Caribbean sea where the lights and slimes separate in a great plume that can be seen from space. . This geologically serendipitous event is further enhanced by a strong east west long shore current which further winnows , cleans and concentrates the heavy minerals into probably the worlds greatest deposit of thick concentrated heavy minerals predominating in high quality magnetite. Estimations indicate that more than 500 million tones might be present in this deposit with a potential of several billion of total mineral resource.
