Workplace Topology Model for Assessment of Static and Dynamic Interactions Am...Jānis Grabis
This document presents a workplace topology model for assessing static and dynamic interactions among employees. The model is formulated as a multi-layer attribute graph with organizational, facility, and sensing layers. Nodes represent people, organizational units, teams, zones, sub-zones, sensors, and actuators. Static analysis examines interactions using a snapshot of the topology, while dynamic analysis considers interactions over time using calendar information. The model is applied to an ICT company to analyze metrics like variety of employees in a zone and intensity of interactions between units. Experiments show a project-oriented structure may reduce external interactions compared to a functional organization. The measures can inform infection risk assessment models.

Product Life-Cycle Perspective on ICT Product Supply Chain Resilience Jānis Grabis
This document discusses a simulation model for analyzing the resilience of ICT product supply chains to vulnerabilities discovered in components. The model considers different supply chain configurations, failure probabilities of suppliers and components, and costs of patching vulnerabilities, penalties for not patching, and monitoring suppliers. Experiments vary these factors to understand their impact on total costs and the effectiveness of different supply chain configurations in dealing with vulnerabilities over the product lifecycle. The flexible configuration was found to be most resilient while monitoring and trustworthiness of suppliers and components significantly impacted costs.

IoT Data Analytics in Retail: Framework and ImplementationJānis Grabis
This document presents a framework for implementing IoT data analytics in retail to understand the relationship between environmental conditions and customer behavior. The framework was tested in a case study of a large retail chain using sensor data on lighting, temperature, humidity and air quality correlated with sales performance metrics. The analysis found air quality and humidity significantly impacted sales while temperature had a non-linear effect. An IoT platform was developed to enact decisions from the analytical models by dynamically adjusting environmental conditions and integrating real-time point-of-sale data.
The document discusses challenges in ensuring resilient business services during crises. It proposes the ARTSS approach, which uses capability modeling, digital twins, and pattern management to dynamically adapt services. A conceptual model represents how capabilities are defined and adjusted based on contexts. An example use case applies this to securely govern a campus network. Capabilities are specified and alternative response strategies tested through a digital twin simulation. The approach aims to limit pandemic impacts and facilitate broad adoption of resilient service solutions.

Simulation Based Evaluation and Tuning of Distributed Fraud Detection AlgorithmJānis Grabis
The document describes a simulation model developed to evaluate a community-based distributed fraud detection algorithm. The simulation models the fraud detection process involving multiple levels (L1, L2, L3) of community officers making decisions on applications. Experimental results show that accuracy improves with more officers, but also increases decision time. The identified trade-off between accuracy and efficiency is consistent with previous distributed decision making research. The simulation model is capable of modeling networks of the size considered and can help tune algorithm parameters to improve performance.
Optimization of Gaps Resolution Strategy in Implementation of ERP SystemsJānis Grabis
This document presents a model for optimizing the strategy for resolving gaps between standard ERP features and specific customer requirements. The model takes into account customization options, their costs and benefits, and the vendor's planned feature releases. The objective is to maximize benefit achieved from satisfying requirements over time. Experimental studies show the model can generate a gap resolution strategy and highlight the impact of factors like customization preferences. A sample application illustrates identifying gaps in a lead management process and potential resolutions.
A Mathematical Model for Evaluation of Data Analytics Implementation Alternat...Jānis Grabis
This document presents a mathematical model for selecting an optimal platform for implementing new data analytics reports within an enterprise architecture. The model aims to minimize costs while maximizing user preferences and architectural principles. It considers development, maintenance, integration and decentralization costs. The model is demonstrated on a sample enterprise architecture of a fleet management solution with 4 new report requests. Scenarios are analyzed with different emphases on user preferences, centralization and integration costs. The optimization results and cost breakdowns are presented. The model allows prescriptive analysis of trade-offs between architectural principles.
Design of Vehicle Routing Capability (ASDENCA 2017)Jānis Grabis
This document describes the design of a vehicle routing capability. The capability enables optimal route planning for fleet vehicles serving customers. It uses a capability model developed using the Context-Driven Design methodology. The model includes goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), context elements, and adjustments that allow the routing logic and importance of factors to change over time based on performance. The capability is offered as a service and can be customized for different service consumers by selecting different KPIs and context elements.
Context-Aware Adaption of Software Entities Using RulesJānis Grabis
This document proposes a context-aware adaptation approach for software entities using rules. The adaptation module is decoupled from enterprise applications and uses context dependency and adaptation rules to modify software entities based on observed contexts. An example is given of applying this approach to an e-government system used by multiple municipalities to share usage knowledge through unobtrusive system adaptations. The key benefits are a uniform treatment of software entities, specification of expected user actions, and adaptation without affecting core functionality. Challenges include evaluating adaptation benefits, performance, and incentives for knowledge sharing.
Design of Capability Delivery Adjustments @ASDENCAJānis Grabis
1) The document discusses the design of capability delivery adjustments for adaptive applications. It describes different types of adjustments like context calculations, performance calculations, scheduled adjustments, and event-based adjustments.
2) A capability delivery application is presented that uses adjustments to ensure business services can be delivered with minimum customization for different contexts. Adjustments decouple context-dependent processing from core applications.
3) An example image processing service is described that uses a scheduled adjustment to scale the number of processing containers up or down depending on queue size and response times to ensure acceptable performance.
Selection and Evolutionary Development of Software-Service Bundles: a Capabil...Jānis Grabis
This document proposes a capability-based method for selecting and evolving software-service bundles to meet client needs. It involves:
1. Defining a capability model and support matrix to map which bundle configurations suit different client contexts and performance levels.
2. An initial bundle is selected for a new client based on their context. Performance is monitored and contexts tracked for changes.
3. If goals are not met or contexts change, bundles are evolved by selecting a new configuration, updating the support matrix, or developing a specialized bundle.
4. An example of evolving a business information exchange process is simulated as demand and volatility change over time.
