1) The total brand value of the Top 100 brands has grown 40% since 2006 to $2.04 trillion in 2010, outperforming the S&P 500 index.

The document discusses the issue of global hunger, providing statistics and causes. Over 900 million people worldwide are undernourished, with the majority living in developing countries in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Natural causes like harsh climates and inefficient land use, as well as economic issues preventing access to food and sociocultural factors restricting women contribute to hunger. Hunger has severe health consequences and can perpetuate cycles of poverty. While major problems existed in the past, the document expresses hope that with measures like food-for-work programs, better education and transportation, the problem of world hunger can be solved in the future.
The document lists several brands and products including Havell's Fan, Havell's Fan, Dettol Soap, ITC Hotel Agra, ITC Hotel Agra, and Shikhar cigarettes. It appears to be a portfolio or list of advertising and print projects for those brands and products.

This document evaluates four different fonts for their suitability as a masthead font for a horror magazine:
1. Feast of Flesh BB font is chosen for its consistency with the font used in the film trailer and its rough, edgy style evoking the character in the film.
2. The Bloody font is rejected because it does not look like real blood and would not work well with the chosen magazine cover image.
3. Action of the Time New font is considered effective due to its distorted, scratched appearance that helps create a horror atmosphere, but it may be too difficult to read if faded or at a distance.
4. The last font is rejected as too thin and long,

1) Brands were not invented by companies or marketers, but rather exist as perceptions in people's minds based on their experiences and interactions with products, services, and other cues.
2) Early marketing theorists in the 1950s brought more attention to the importance of brands and how they influence consumer decision-making.
3) While companies aim to influence brand perceptions through marketing, many factors outside their control also shape brands in the minds of consumers. The personality and meaning of a brand is unique to each individual.
Fundamentals of Information Architecture WorkshopKate Simpson
This document provides an agenda for a one-day workshop on information architecture. The workshop will cover topics such as defining information architecture, analyzing audiences and users, designing navigation and labeling systems, and best practices for search, search results, facets, filters, metadata and taxonomies. Breaks are scheduled throughout the day for tea/coffee.
Information architecture is the conceptual structure and organization of a website. It encompasses taxonomy, hierarchies, chunking content, and site maps. The goals of information architecture are to organize content logically, communicate site structure clearly to users, and allow users to efficiently find information. Key aspects of information architecture include inventorying content, creating outlines and taxonomies, dividing content into logical chunks, drawing site maps, and testing the organization with users.
Grid systems have been used in print design, architecture and interior design for generations. Now, on the web, the same rules of grid system composition and usage no longer apply. Content is viewed in many ways; from RSS feeds to email. Content is viewed on many devices; from mobile phones to laptops. Users can manipulate the browser, they can remove content, resize the canvas, resize the typefaces. A designer is no longer in control of this presentation. So where do grid systems fit in to all that?
The document discusses using personas to understand social media users and build efficient social media sites. It defines a persona as a fictional person representing a user group. Ten personas are described representing different personality types and behaviors among social media users, such as status seekers, critics, socializers, lurkers, etc. The document advocates adapting site design and content to match the interests and needs of different personas in order to better engage users and achieve business objectives.

What's makes the difference between good and great design? Or for that matter, between good and great designers?
I don't pretend to know the answer. I've been designing for 10+ years and I still don't consider myself a great designer. What this presentation offers, however, are a few principles I've learned along the path to becoming a great designer.
These slides are from a 2 hour presentation called Design for Developers.
The goal of Design for Developers is to teach interface design as a set of rules: there are some good default values for a lot of design decisions that you should remember, there is a “scientific” way of approaching things like alignment, even though many designers will tell you it’s something you should “feel”.

http://natbat.net/2008/Sep/28/css-systems/ - A CSS System is a reusable set of content-oriented markup patterns and associated CSS created to express a site's individual design. It is the end result of a process that emphasizes up-front planning, loose coupling between CSS and markup, pre-empting browser bugs and overall robustness. It also incorporates a shared vocabulary for developers to communicate the intent of the code. This talk elaborates on this concept, and also describes a number of tricks I use to pre-empt maintainability issues.
