Dear Parents/Guardians
Madrid Art Trip 22nd – 25th February 2011
We have arranged a trip to Madrid for our 6th form groups across the art specialisms. This is a
fantastic opportunity for students to experience galleries showcasing a huge variety of
contemporary and classical arts. The trip will not only compliment their portfolios but also
provide the students with the opportunity to view works by some of the world’s greatest artists.
This will also be an opportunity for students to bond with other members of their groups and
share ideas and experiences that will enable them to develop within the 6th Form.
We will be attending a variety of galleries and museums whilst in Madrid including The Prado,
the Reina Sofia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza..The Prado houses some of the finest works by
the Spanish artist Goya amongst other masterpieces from the 13th to the 19th century whilst the
Reina Sophia has a comprehensive and innovative collection of both 20th and 21st century art
including Picasso’s masterpiece ‘Guernica’. The Thyssen-Bornemisza houses one of the finest
private collections of 13th to 20th century paintings in the world. These three Museums alone will
be an amazing opportunity for students to engage with and make studies of work relevant to
their practice.
The total cost of the trip will be £530. This will cover all travel, insurance, hotel, meals and
entrance to the galleries and museums and tours. For any students interested please complete
the attached parental consent form and return it with a non returnable deposit of £100 in an
envelop clearly labelled with the students name, the enclosed amount and ‘Madrid Art Trip’ to
the school office before Friday 8th October 2010 (If paying by cheque please make out to
Welling School).
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely
