Macau is a special administrative region located on the western side of the Pearl River Delta in China. It has a diverse economy including textiles, electronics, toys and a large tourism and gambling industry. Macau was formerly a Portuguese colony and has a unique cultural identity with Portuguese and Chinese influences. It maintains a high degree of autonomy under the "one country, two systems" policy established when it was transferred from Portugal to China in 1999. Some of Macau's most famous landmarks include the Ruins of St. Paul and the Macau Sky Tower.
