Luarca is a small fishing village located on the western coast of Asturias, Spain. It has a population of around 14,200 people and its economy is based on agriculture, cattle farming, fishing and tourism. Some of Luarca's main attractions include its lighthouse, Atalaya's Chapel which offers nice coastal views, and its three beaches. The village is also known as the birthplace of Dr. Severo Ochoa, who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1959.
