• “Kaunas old town is not a major tourist attraction but has a great
relaxed feel about it, full of young people due to the many
education and training establishments in the centre and is an
enjoyable place to pass the time. Given the short time elapsed
since the Soviet era (and the evidence is all around if you care to
look), the city has clearly re-built its own identity and is looking
to a very different future. Not (yet?) dominated by the usual euro-
rubbish catering and shopping outlets, the high quality bars and
restaurants are a pleasure.”

people who want to spend the afternoon in Kaunas

• “If you are planning to go to Druskininkai, I think Grutas park is one
of the nice place to stop and see around. It's everything about Soviet
Union, all the sculptures... The history... I really enjoyed it!”
• Playgrounds and petting zoos form an increasingly large part of the
park.
• The Park is a text-book example of entrepreneurial spirit and
capitalism at work.
• Simply you have to go and see the place. The prison of those who
have killed thousands.
• “Nice place to visit. I felt like traveling back in time - felt the joy of
Soviet Union times ( I was kid then): young soldiers dancing with
young girls, free milk and cookies, marching pioners (I didnt like
they untidy uniforms - as I remember we were so strictly perfect and
clean) for sure made some atmosphere.”

• “I loved the spa side of the Aquapark, with the saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and
relaxing areas; my boyfriend loved the waterpark crazy slides side. My favourite
parts were sitting outside in a hot tub in the snow, the honey rub session in a steam
room, and the hamman - where we just lay on hot slabs and relaxed.”
• I am glad they don't allow kids to enter the area as this is where you will find a piece
of quiet. It has a variety of different saunas for everyone's needs and
preferences, i.e. from hot and dry to very humid saunas. There are a couple of nice
pools (outside/inside), jaccuzzi, and etc. What I like the most about this bath-houses
area that it has a lot of special sessions, such as salt, honey, face masks and etc.
which start at certain times during the day and are free of charge!
• I always book using the special offer, which gives you a hotel room with buffet
breakfast and dinner - 2pm to 9pm 1st day, and 10am -12 noon 2nd day in the
waterpark. I have been to the ones at Riga and Vilnius, which, although good, not in
the same league as Druskininkai.

• “The restaurant has a nice interior and also it has a terrace
outside with a view to a small river. Location is good. The
service was really good, we got our pizzas very quickly.
The sofas are very comfortable and we really liked the
place, we'll be coming back for sure. And it's not pricy!”

• “Definitely plan to take a day to go to the beach/dunes/bike ride
on the Curonian Spit. Beautiful views, perfect and long
beaches, and good hiking/biking. Stop in the town at the
end, relax over som Chili Picca (spelling is probably wrong)--
yes, its a chain, and I resisted, too!! But it is very good. My
favorite part of the Spit is the beautiful beaches. Please note
some women will be out bathing in the nude (though they tried to
be discreet in semi-hidden areas when we were there in off-peak
season). Apparently the summer months bring many
tourists, but during our visit in early May it was just warming up
and fairly bare, though the weather was perfect (about 75-80
degres Fahrenheit). We also rode to the border with Russia just
to say we did.”
