Italy's green and hidden heart nestles in a setting of unsurpassed beauty at the centre of the Italian peninsula. Fortified ancient hilltowns cascade down mountain sides into a serene valley of quilted landscapes with vineyards, olive groves and wheat fields.
From a central and comfortable base which resonates with the region's heritage you can unpack once and wake gently to the sound of distant church bells, then finish each day under the pine trees in the garden sipping the intense local red Sagrantino wine.
With the hilltowns so close to each other we rarely travel more than half an hour to get anywhere which keeps the pace of excursions easy.
The 7 day itinerary explores an extraordinary wealth of history, art and some of the oldest architecture in Europe. The towns and villages offer a blend of art, history, food, wine, landscape and crafts that makes them worth a week of anyone's time. Guided visits are organised to impressive locations within the towns where Etruscan arches, Roman architecture and Renaissance frescoes form a fascinating collage.

MY FAVORITE BARCELONA RESTAURANTS
• La Mar Salada Restaurant - This is a hidden gem in a literal sea of tourist trap garbage. The owner hand selects
fish every day from the commercial dock. The food is creative and modern and fantastic if you love seafood.
Not cheap, think about $50/person, but so worth it. Lunch is pretty cheap, around $20
• Cerveseria Catalana - Popular with tourists AND locals, they’re always crowded because they’re one of the
best! Reasonably priced, great selection of tapas and an impressive beer list. Expect about a 30 minute wait
since they don’t take reservations
• Ten’s Tapas Restaurant - This is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Jordi Cruz. Prices are great and he has a
rotating menu of seasonal tapas.
• Chok - The Chocolate Kitchen - I’mma be honest, this is a bakery that hangs their donuts on the wall and that
is like the sole impetus I had for walking in because I am a marketer’s dream. They even have vegan options.
Not that I care about vegans, but I suppose that’s a thing worth mentioning.

MONDAY: ZARAGOZA & LOGRONO
Add a footer
Say adéu to Barcelona!
• Collect rental car in the AM

8. Contoso Ltd.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2: ZARAGOZA & LOGROÑO
• If we pick up rental car by 9AM, we can be in
Zaragoza around noon!
• Actually the 5th largest city in Spain
• Beautiful Moorish architecture
• Largest collection of Francisco de Goya’s work
• Roman ruins
• Aragonese cuisine (because food is like my
driving force for traveling the world)
• Only another 1.5 hours to our AirBnB in Logroño
• We’re in the city center, so walkable after check-
in
• Fun fact: This is a pilgrimage stop for The Way of
St. James (you’ll note scallop shells, as that’s a
badge of the pilgrimage)
8
9. Contoso Ltd.
ZARAGOZA STOP
• Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar
• Catedral del Salvador de Zaragoza
• Aljaferia Palace
• El Tubo
• Museo Goya Coleccion Ibercaja
• Museo del Teatro de Caesaraugusta
• TRAGICALLY, one of the oldest restaurants in
Spain, Casa Lac, is closed on Mondays!
• However, Casa Nolasco comes highly
recommended AND they keep Monday hours
9
10. Contoso Ltd.
LOGROÑO
• Fair warning: Just like the rest of Europe, most
things are closed on Monday. We might luck out
now and then due to it being the cusp of tourist
season, but no promises
• Church of San Bartolomé
• Catedral de Santa Marie de la Redonda
• Puenta de Piedra
• Pinchos (tapas) bar crawl! (So I can continue
eating my way across the globe)
• The pinchos crawl is an actual activity in Logroño;
I did not make that up just because of my deep
abiding love of food.
10
11. Contoso Ltd.
• “Learn” about wine
• Drink the wine
• Drink more wine?
• Check in Hotel F&G
• Should I plan out the rest of our day
or do they have a schedule for us?

OURENSE?
• Real talk: Due to the placement of our hotel and
the 3.5 hour drive, we would need to leave ass-
early to hit up Ourense AND have a beach day
on Playa del Rodas, so we need a group vote.
• Open-air thermal spas along the river
• Pincho crawl!
• Licor café - an ancient coffee liquor made in
Ourense

18
19. Contoso Ltd.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH: PORTO
• This is one of my favorite cities in the world and
I’ve got to give you the highlights in 1 day?! Ok,
here goes:
• Chapel of Souls
• Mercearia do Bolhao
• Rua de Miguel Bombarda
• Jardins do Palacio de Cristal
• Ingreja do Carmo
• Torre dos Clerigos
• Antigo Palacio dos Constantinos
• Ponte Luis I bridge
• Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar
• Funicular dos Guidais
• Sao Bento Station
• Batalha Square 19
20. Contoso Ltd.
THINGS TO NOTE IN PORTO:
• Yes, the Harry Potter bookstore, Livraria Lello, is in Porto. Last time I was there it was just a lovely,
normal bookstore where I spent time browsing and bought a picture book for my nephew. According to
my coworker (to whom I recommended this place) there are now lines down the block and an entrance
fee for tourists who just want to take selfies inside?! So maybe skip this if it is indeed that crazy.
• Instead, I recommend A Vida Portuguesa. It’s close by and similar architecture (minus the books) and it
was full of local arts and crafts. I practiced my terrible Portuguese with a lovely girl making jewelry and I
bought a necklace from her after she finished weaving it for like 5 euro.
• Majestic Café is another “J.K. Rowling hung out here” location. Worth visiting because it was built in
1921 and even before Harry Potter was considered one of the most beautiful cafes in the world.
However, apparently prices have skyrocketed alongside signed first editions of HP. So instead, visit Café
A Brasileira, sit outside, and enjoy a coffee. I had a strawberry tort the size of my head here for like 3
euro.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH: FLY HOME
21
• Kim & Sandra fly out at 6AM - back at TPA around 5:30PM
• Jess flies out at 8AM - back at TPA around 5:00PM
• Take the E train from Bolhao station to Aeroporto stop (about 40 minutes) = €2
