Sandra is planning a week-long 30th birthday trip for herself and two friends to Spain and Portugal. The itinerary includes stops in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Logroño, the Rioja wine region, Galicia, the Rias Baixa region, Porto and features activities like visiting museums, hiking, wine tastings and beach time. AUG 31ST, SATURDAY, BARCELONA
• You’re set to arrive around 9:45AM. By the time
you get thru Customs and ride into the city, let’s
say you’ll get into Barcelona proper around 11AM
• Fastest/easiest way to town is the Aerobus. It’s
€5.90/ticket and takes you to Plaça de Catalunya,
which is right where you want to be. I’ll meet you
guys there!
• Right around the corner is Locker Barcelona where
we can store your luggage until check-in at 2PM
• Depending on how hungry/tired you are, my recommends:
• Light walking tour + food. Get your bearings, adjust to the time
zone, and let me show you some of my favs around town!

• Sunrise isn’t until 7:17AM, so I am unlikely to
wake everyone up at 6AM ;)
• I don’t want to overbook the day, since we will
certainly get recommends from our host that
sound interesting
• I would like to humbly suggest the following,
however 
• Picasso Museum in the AM (it’s free today and
worth the visit)
• Parc del Laberint d’Horta!!! (THEY HAVE A
FUCKING LABYRINTH AND IT IS AMAZING!!)
• Sagrada Familia in the PM for sunset lighting
• Magic Fountain @ 9:30PM

MY FAVORITE BARCELONA RESTAURANTS
• La Mar Salada Restaurant - This is a hidden gem in a literal sea of tourist trap garbage. The owner hand selects
fish every day from the commercial dock. The food is creative and modern and fantastic if you love seafood.
Not cheap, think about $50/person, but so worth it. Lunch is pretty cheap, around $20
• Cerveseria Catalana - Popular with tourists AND locals, they’re always crowded because they’re one of the
best! Reasonably priced, great selection of tapas and an impressive beer list. Expect about a 30 minute wait
since they don’t take reservations
• Ten’s Tapas Restaurant - This is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Jordi Cruz. Prices are great and he has a
rotating menu of seasonal tapas.
• Chok - The Chocolate Kitchen - I’mma be honest, this is a bakery that hangs their donuts on the wall and that
is like the sole impetus I had for walking in because I am a marketer’s dream. They even have vegan options.
Not that I care about vegans, but I suppose that’s a thing worth mentioning.

• Actually the 5th largest city in Spain
• Beautiful Moorish architecture
• Largest collection of Francisco de Goya’s work
• Roman ruins
• Aragonese cuisine (because food is like my
driving force for traveling the world)
• Only another 1.5 hours to our AirBnB in Logroño
• We’re in the city center, so walkable after check-
in
• Fun fact: This is a pilgrimage stop for The Way of
St. James (you’ll note scallop shells, as that’s a
badge of the pilgrimage)

now and then due to it being the cusp of tourist
season, but no promises 

THINGS TO NOTE IN PORTO:
• Yes, the Harry Potter bookstore, Livraria Lello, is in Porto. Last time I was there it was just a lovely,
normal bookstore where I spent time browsing and bought a picture book for my nephew. According to
my coworker (to whom I recommended this place) there are now lines down the block and an entrance
fee for tourists who just want to take selfies inside?! So maybe skip this if it is indeed that crazy.
• Instead, I recommend A Vida Portuguesa. It’s close by and similar architecture (minus the books) and it
was full of local arts and crafts. I practiced my terrible Portuguese with a lovely girl making jewelry and I
bought a necklace from her after she finished weaving it for like 5 euro.
• Majestic Café is another “J.K. Rowling hung out here” location. Worth visiting because it was built in
1921 and even before Harry Potter was considered one of the most beautiful cafes in the world.
However, apparently prices have skyrocketed alongside signed first editions of HP. So instead, visit Café
A Brasileira, sit outside, and enjoy a coffee. I had a strawberry tort the size of my head here for like 3
euro.
