LSC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The top four Lone Star Conference baseball teams will meet in San Angelo, Texas, May 12-14, for the annual
LSC Baseball Championship.
	 Angelo State won its third LSC title with a 25-10 league record and is the top seed and host.
	 Texas A&M-Kingsville is the No. 2 seed, while West Texas A&M is the third seed, and Cameron fourth.
	 The double-elimination event begins on Thursday and concludes on Saturday. The event will take place at
Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
	 All the games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC’s GameCentral portal (http://portal.
stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addition to supporting desktop and laptop computers, GameCentral’s
responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android).
LSC BASEBALL
LSC baseball teams are 159-137 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
21-11 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 8-4 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Jake Fuller, West Texas A&M University, SR, INF, Littleton, Colo., Columbine HS
Fuller had a huge weekend for the Buffs as he hit .556 in three games against #18 Texas A&M-Kingsville. Fuller
drove in four runs on 5 of 9 from the plate with two doubles, one home run and five RBI, while slugging 1.111
and reaching base at a .600 clip. He was a perfect 2 for 2 in stolen bases and had a clean sheet in nine attempts
in the field with four putouts at shortstop and was in on three double plays. He currently has an eight-game on
base streak which is tied for second longest on the team.
PITCHER
Luke Wiechec, West Texas A&M University, SR, RHP, Mountain View, Calif., Los Altos HS
Wiechec pitched a gem of a game on Senior Day in the Buffs’ 12-1, run-rule win over #18/22 Texas A&M-
Kingsville on Saturday. Wiechec went all seven innings, allowing five hits, one earned run, walked two and
fanned nine as the Javelinas hit just .208 against him. He allowed one extra-base hit in the game, a double.
Wiechec improved to 3-2 on the year as it was his first start since Apr. 23 and his nine-strikeouts was a WT
career-high for him.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Nate Hale, Cameron University, scored 10 of CU’s 45 runs at Eastern New Mexico last weekend and batted
.462 in the leadoff spot. The Cameron senior had a .529 on-base percentage with seven RBI, and drew two
walks. In game one, Hale reached base in each of his at-bats, with three runs scored, and then reached base in
his first two at-bats. Hale leads the LSC with 36 walks and has a league high 53 runs scored.
	 Alec Humphreys, Tarleton State University, hit .364 in three games for Tarleton this weekend, going 4-for-11
at the dish with three runs scored, one home run, and one RBI. He boasted a slugging percentage of .636 and
an on-base percentage of .462.
	 Trevor Renfro, Tarleton State University, continued his record-setting senior season at Tarleton while
throwing his seventh consecutive complete game with 7.2 innings of work against Angelo State. The senior
right-hander had an ERA of 1.17 after allowing just one earned run to the Rams Saturday.

WT tallied its fourth-straight season of 30-plus wins, fifth under WT head coach Matt Vanderburg and eighth
in school history this season...The 21 conference wins ranks second-most in school-history...The series saw a
combined 11 home runs hit between the two teams and nine on Saturday with WT junior Hunter Henderson
hitting two in the 12-1, run-rule win in the finale...Seniors Jake Fuller and Josh Day each had one as well...Prior
to Saturday’s doubleheader, the Buffs honored 13 seniors playing in their final regular season games in a WT
uniform at Wilder Park...David Wilder, who has naming rights on the stadium, threw out the first pitch prior
to the doubleheader...For the series, WT hit .366 on 34 of 93, recording 12 doubles, two triples, four home
runs, drove in 26 and scored 26 runs...The team slugged .667 and reached base at a .431 clip...The staff was led
by senior Luke Wiechec who was masterful in the finale, as he went all seven innings, allowing five hits, one
earned run, walked two and fanned a career-high nine Javelinas as TAMUK hit just .208 against him...TAMUK hit
.333 for the series on 32 of 96 with five doubles and seven home runs, while driving in 22 and scoring 24 runs...
WT senior Trace Hansen was one of two LSC student-athletes named to the CoSIDA Academic All-Region team
announced Friday...WT is 8-14 all-time in the LSC Baseball Championship. The Buffs went 1-2 in 1994, 3-2 in
1995, 0-2 in 2006, 0-2 in 2012, 1-2 in 2013 and 2-2 in 2014 with a runner-up finish and 1-2 last season...The last
two baseball championships were held in Kingsville with WT eliminating TAMUK each year on its home field...In
2013, the championship as held in Canyon as part of the LSC Spring Festival as TAMUK won the championship...
Tarleton State won the tournament title in 2014 over WT and Angelo State won in 2015.
