A married couple was in a terrible accident where the woman’s face was
severely burned. The doctor told the husband that they couldn’t graft any
skin from her body because she was too skinny. So the husband offered to
donate some of his own skin.
However, the only skin on his body that the doctor felt was suitable would
have to come from his buttocks. The husband and wife agreed that they
would tell no one about where the skin came from, and requested that the
doctor also honor their secret. After all, this was a very delicate matter.
After the surgery was completed, everyone was astounded at the woman’s
new beauty. She looked more beautiful than she ever had before! All her
friends and relatives just went on and on about her youthful beauty!
One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was overcome with
emotion at his sacrifice. She said, “Dear, I just want to thank you for
everything you did for me. There is no way I could ever repay you.”
“My darling,” he replied, “I get all the thanks I need every I need every
time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek.”
A mild-mannered man was tired of being bossed around by his wife so he
went to a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist said he needed to build his self-esteem, and so gave him
a book on assertiveness, which he read on the way home.
He had finished the book by the time he reached his house.
The man stormed into the house and walked up to his wife.
Pointing a finger in her face, he said, "From now on, I want you to know
that I am the man of this house, and my word is law! I want you to prepare
me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I
expect a delicious dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you're going to
draw me my bath so I can relax. And when I'm finished with my bath,
guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?"
"The funeral director," said his wife.
There were three guys talking in the pub. Two of them are talking about
the amount of control they have over their wives, while the third remains
quiet.
After a while one of the first two turns to the third and says,
"Well, what about you, what sort of control do you have over your wife?"
The third fellow says "I'll tell you. Just the other night my wife came to me
on her hands and knees."
The first two guys were amazed. "What happened then?" they asked. "She
said, 'get out from under the bed and fight like a man'."
The Greatest Love Story Ever Told…
O The Bible gives us the account of a Mighty
King whose undying love transcends lives,
cultures, and eras.
O The God of Glory So Loves You….
I “Love” You
What does that mean to you?
What does that mean to
“them”?
Object of Affection
O Language can tell you a great deal about a
culture and that culture’s priorities – the Inuit
(Eskimos) are said to have nearly thirty words
for “ice” which describe various colors, textures,
and uses, among other things (I don’t know if
this is true or not, by the way). Any group of
adults in the U.S. can probably come up with
that many words for money.
Two Kinds of Love
O Phileo
O Philos love, or
brotherly/friendship
love, is the next kind
we will look at. Philos
describes the love
between two people
who have common
interests and
experiences, or a
fondness for.
O Agape
O Agape love is the final of
the five loves we look at
here. Agape love is entirely
about the lover, and has
nothing whatsoever to do
with the one loved. Agape
love, in its purest form,
requires no payment or
favor in response. The
most common word for
God’s love for us is Agape (I
John, John 3:16) and the
love we are commanded to
have for one another (Matt.
5:44, I Cor. 13).
Four Dimensional
O So often people use the word “love” in a universal
one dimensional context.
O Expressions like “I love my car, I love my job, I love
my spouse, I love McDonalds…ect”
O The Love of God is not one dimensional it is in fact
four dimensional.
14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to
be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being
rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth,
and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that
ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
world without end. Amen.

Love Languages
The Five Love Languages is an ideology
developed by Dr. Gary Chapman that discusses
relationships between couples. He stresses to his
audience in his book that all people express their
love for one another in various ways and it is
essential for couples to identify how they
communicate their love to one another so that
they are able to improve upon their relationship.
Website: www.5lovelanguages.com
Words of Affirmation
Language
The first way, according to Dr. Chapman, that
people express love is through verbal affirmation.
Love is expressed by simply telling one another
the positive aspects that are found within the
couple and their relationship. For example, words
of affirmation can include statements such as,
"You are a beautiful person," and "You are my
best friend."
Quality Time Language
Couples share their love for one another by
spending quality time together. This aspect
requires the individuals to focus their attention on
one another in ways such as open
communication, both listening and speaking, and
spending time with one another doing activities
that are enjoyed by both individuals.
Receiving Gifts Language
Another language of love that individuals can
share is the concept of receiving gifts. Some
individuals see the act of providing one another
with material objects, regardless of their cost, as
an act of love. Without these acts of giving and
receiving individuals who use this type of love
language will feel deprived of their relationship.
Acts of Service Language
Individuals who express love via the acts of
service language are prone to seeing such tasks,
like chores and various household tasks, as acts
of love. In order for two individuals to experience
the acts of service language together, both
individuals need to be willing to step outside of
their typical household routines and perform one
another's tasks for the sole purpose of being kind
to one another.
Physical Touch Language
The physical touch language is simply the idea
that individuals feel loved and comforted by being
in close physical contact with one another in
various ways, such as holding hands, hugging,
kissing and sexual intercourse. Physical touch
between couples can vary depending upon what
each individual in the relationship is comfortable
with.
This language uses words
to affirm other people.
For these people, actions speak
louder than words.
For some people, what makes
them feel most loved is to
receive a gift.
This language is all about giving
the other person your undivided
attention.
To this person, nothing speaks
more deeply than appropriate
touch.
Conclusion
O Love is a person and his name is Jesus Christ.
O God’s love for us is unconditional.
O God’s love is four dimensional.
O The Bible is God’s love story of redeeming
fallen mankind to redeem him eternally.
O There are two “main” kinds of love.
O Everyone has a “love language”.
O God’s love language is all five languages.
