The document discusses focusing on eternal spiritual realities rather than temporary earthly ones. It states that while our earthly bodies will die, we will receive an eternal home in heaven. It encourages having faith over sight, pleasing God whether living or departed, and facing judgment for our deeds in life.

Our Promises and Rewards_2 Cor. 5:1-10Stephen Palm
The notion of the judgment seat of Christ often evokes images of terror. However, for the believer in Christ, the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, describes a judgment of rewards, not wrath. In this sermon we will explore these rewards including the greatest reward of an incorruptible resurrection body.

Grace doesn't end with salvation. Grace is to go right on into your daily life, especially when life gets hard. Grace shows up in 5 paradoxical ways! Sometimes we have to fail or struggle or even fall a little bit before we can really understand God’s grace.
2 Corinthians 4 concludes with a contrast between the growing power of eternity within and the slow decline of our outward "tent" of our earthly body. In doing so, Paul shares his secret weapon against "losing heart" with us!
This week Bob Uhrich, our Director of Children, spoke out of 2 Corinthians 4. He taught us that just as God used broken people like Paul to preach the Gospel of Jesus, find power in the message of God and point people to the hope and encouragement found in Jesus coming again... God can and does choose to use us.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
3. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on
what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal. Now we know that
if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we
have a building from God, an eternal house in
heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile
we groan, longing to be clothed with our
heavenly dwelling, because when we are
clothed, we will not be found naked..
4. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are
burdened, because we do not wish to be
unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly
dwelling, so that what is mortal may be
swallowed up by life. Now it is God who has
made us for this very purpose and has given us
the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to
come. Therefore we are always confident and
know that as long as we are at home in the body
we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not
by sight.
5. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be
away from the body and at home with the Lord.
So we make it our goal to please him, whether
we are at home in the body or away from it. For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of
Christ, that each one may receive what is due
him for the things done while in the body,
whether good or bad.
2 Corinthians 4:18-5:10
7. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show
that this all-surpassing power is from God and
not from us. We are hard pressed on every side,
but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down,
but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9
8. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE
2. ANTICIPATE THE REALITIES OF LIFE
9. We are hard pressed on every side, but we are
not crushed. We are perplexed, but not left in
despair. We are persecuted, but not abandoned.
We are struck down, but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
10. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE
2. ANTICIPATE THE REALITIES OF LIFE
3. ACKNOWLEDGE THE POWER OF HOPE
11. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE
2. ANTICIPATE THE REALITIES OF LIFE

4. GET THE RIGHT PERSPECTIVE

what is unseen is eternal.
