This document introduces the concept of the Third Industrial Revolution, which utilizes co-creation and micro-manufacturing to bring innovative products to market faster and at a lower cost compared to traditional methods. Key aspects include an online co-creation portal and distributed network of small manufacturing locations that allow collaborators to ideate, design, prototype, test, and locally produce products. Examples are given of vehicles and appliances that were developed much faster and cheaper through this new model compared to conventional means.

New cars for a collaborative mobility - Local Motors at World Forum LilleGhislain Delabie
Invited to the World Forum for a Responsible Economy (Lille - 2015), Damien Declercq presented how Local Motors is fostering a revolution in collaborative mobility, based on an Open-Source and crowd-sourced codesigning process, Direct Digital Manufacturing, 3D printing, local micro factories and a participative platform.
Make Realistic Prototypes in Less Time with Multi-Material 3D PrintingDesign World
Creating prototypes that look and feel like their production counterparts greatly reduces the product development cycle and makes communication of design ideas much more effective. Most prototypes, however, are made from multiple parts that need to be assembled, which takes time. PolyJet multi-material 3D printing lets you quickly produce realistic prototypes with different material properties and colors, all in a single manufacturing operation. View the webinar to learn how multi-material 3D printing saves time.

Following the "Urban Mobility Challenge: Berlin 2030" we have gathered a lot of interest for the Berlino concept. Here is the introduction of the AWESOME System, an autonomous vehicles system.
This material is prepared as my teaching material for undergraduate degree class in Business Management. The main source is Handfield & Bozarth book "Introduction to Operations and Supply Chain Management". The actual slide features the video of alloy wheel production, to visualise the hybrid production type which combines continuous flow, batch manufacturing as well as production line. Feel free to give advice & feedback.
3D printing is an emerging technology in the automotive industry. Our students have the opportunity to gain some exposure to this technology before leaving our university. We now have 3D printers in the library!
(updated) How 3D printers will change the supply chain management in I4.0Diogo Quental
From a situation where the question was “what can I print?”, the technology evolved now to a point where the question is “what can I not print?”.
Manufacturing with additive manufacturing processes is now growing exponentially, seeking the goal of “demand driven manufacturing”. Every day we learn about new success stories that are allowing better time to market and huge cost savings.
A brief analysis to what happened in other industries may also help to understand what can be the medium term evolution of 3D Printing and if how important is to start now using this technology.

The 4th industrial revolution is starting now. What innovation is affecting and what could you build upon? How do you plan for what's essentially unplannable? How do you compete when startups are 100 times faster than you? What is Open Innovation? And why do old, stable and profitable companies die?

Energy efficiency business models: Fit to serve?
Most new business propositions are formed around a product-service combination. In energy efficiency, however, business models are still mainly product solutions, as shown in recent research by Duneworks and Ideate. Such ‘unfit’ business models might be the cause for a slow market uptake; in this talk Renske illustrates how to change that.
Speakers: Renske Bouwknegt, Ruth Mourik
