PEGI (Pan European Game Information) is a regulatory body that rates video games for content suitability for different age groups. It was established in 2003 to help parents make informed choices about games. PEGI rates games based on content like violence, language, fear, sex, drugs, discrimination, gambling and online content. It assigns age ratings of 3, 7, 12, 16 or 18. PEGI is funded by the video game industry trade group ISFE and the EU Safer Internet Programme to regulate content in a neutral manner. It can fine developers and retailers that do not follow its ratings system.
