This document discusses a conference paper about the impact of library management systems (LMS) on library environments. The paper was presented in May 2017 and had over 1,900 reads but no citations. It was authored by five individuals, including Irwan Kadir, Alwi Mohd Yunus, and Ahmad Nazri Nazri Mansor of Universiti Teknologi MARA. The authors were also working on related projects involving knowledge management modules, communication systems using smartphones, and other journal articles.

Relationship of Google Scholar Versions and Paper CitationsNader Ale Ebrahim
The number of citations that a paper has received is the most commonly used indicator to measure the quality of research. Researchers, journals, and universities want to receive more citations for their scholarly publications to increase their h-index, impact factor, and ranking respectively. In this paper, we tried to analyses the effect of the number of available Google Scholar versions of a paper on citations count. We analyzed 10,162 papers which are published in Scopus database in year 2010 by Malaysian top five universities. Then we developed a software to collect the number of citations and versions of each paper from Google Scholar automatically. The result of spearman correlation coefficient revealed that there is positive significant association between the number of Google Scholar versions of a paper and the number of times a paper has been cited.
Materials for introduction to adaptive learning and learning analytics as well as efforts of interoperability standardization. This slides treats brief concept of adaptive learning, reference model of learning analytics, data APIs for learning analytics, and topic list of standardization community (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36).

In 2009, the Library and Information Science (LIS) Research Coalition was established in the UK by major players in the LIS landscape. The Coalition had a particular interest in supporting practicing librarians and information scientists, both in how they can access and exploit available research in their work, and in their own development as practitioner researchers.
One of the Coalition’s key initiatives was the Developing Research Excellence and Methods (DREaM) project, through which a formal UK-wide network of LIS researchers was successfully developed. In this presentation, Professor Hall discusses how the LIS Research Coalition tackled the challenges of LIS research at a national level and reflects on the longer-term impact of the project with particular reference to the findings of the DREaM Again project—a recent follow-up exploration of the lasting impacts of DREaM. Not only have half of the DREaM participants been actively involved in research since the end of the project, but just under half report that their research outputs have already had an impact—informing policy, and/or determining information services provision, and/or developing the LIS research agenda. Analysis of the network ties between the participants reveals that a loose but persistent network of DREaMers endures, wherein both social and work-related connections are important.

This workshop aims to provide an overview of the potential impact on the market. Open Access repositories, research data repositories, and publisher platforms are not standardized. But they are an important complement to other (traditional and alternative) bibliometric indicators to provide a comprehensive and recent view of the impact of scholarly resources. In particular, use data from non-traditional output types are available on the Internet. A key challenge is to achieve a similar, consistent, standards-based usage across different platforms Web resources or files and the use of resources among different repositories.
This workshop combines three thematic blocks:
- Motivations and outcomes from the European Commission Expert Group on Altmetrics report on "Next-generation metrics" report
- Current usage statistics initiatives (OpenAIRE, IRUS-UK): services standardization efforts
- Opportunity for an Impact Data Services Cloud (OpenUp)
The presentation builds on the results of the OpenUP landscape scan, and an analysis of how research results are measured today, the limitations of current approaches, and a proposed solution: a new platform for Open Metrics that gives users the information they need to understand and reproduce current metrics, to create and share their own metrics of research output and to take account of research outputs (e.g. data, code, laboratory equipment, animals, cell-lines, research protocols).

Conferences are an essential part of scholarly communication. However, like researchers and organizations they suffer from the disambiguation problem, when the same acronym or the conference name refers to very different conferences. In 2017, Crossref and DataCite started a working group on conference and project identifiers. The group includes various publishers, A&I service providers, and other interested stakeholders. The group participants have drafted the metadata specification and gathered the feedback from the community.
In this talk, we would like to update the VIVO participants with where we stand with the PIDs for conferences, conference series and Crossmark for proceedings and are inviting the broader community to comment.

How to Position Your Globus Data Portal for Success Ten Good PracticesGlobus
Science gateways allow science and engineering communities to access shared data, software, computing services, and instruments. Science gateways have gained a lot of traction in the last twenty years, as evidenced by projects such as the Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) and the Center of Excellence on Science Gateways (SGX3) in the US, The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and its platforms in Australia, and the projects around Virtual Research Environments in Europe. A few mature frameworks have evolved with their different strengths and foci and have been taken up by a larger community such as the Globus Data Portal, Hubzero, Tapis, and Galaxy. However, even when gateways are built on successful frameworks, they continue to face the challenges of ongoing maintenance costs and how to meet the ever-expanding needs of the community they serve with enhanced features. It is not uncommon that gateways with compelling use cases are nonetheless unable to get past the prototype phase and become a full production service, or if they do, they don't survive more than a couple of years. While there is no guaranteed pathway to success, it seems likely that for any gateway there is a need for a strong community and/or solid funding streams to create and sustain its success. With over twenty years of examples to draw from, this presentation goes into detail for ten factors common to successful and enduring gateways that effectively serve as best practices for any new or developing gateway.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
