Employee Scholarship Fund Application
The Bay Education Foundation Employee Tuition Assistance program is available to all district
employees who are pursuing degrees or certifications that benefit Bay District Schools. For
example, a Master’s Degree in Reading clearly benefits district. Preference is given to applicants who
are attending BEACON Learning Center Alternative Certification Program*, Gulf Coast State College,
or Florida State University-Panama City; however, consideration will be given to programs administered
by the University of West Florida or Troy State University IF those programs are not available
through GCSC or FSU-PC.
Substantial bonus points will be awarded to applicants who are
• Pursuing a degree/certification in a critical shortage area, AND/OR
• Pursuing a degree that keeps them in the classroom, AND/OR
• Members of the Bay Education Foundation.
You must
1. Be a full-time employee of Bay District Schools. (Employees who work at least 30 hours per
week may apply for a waiver of this requirement.)
2. Complete the application and write the required essays, making sure to answer each question.
3. Attach a current letter of recommendation from your supervisor.
4. To qualify for a scholarship, you must be ADMITTED AND ENROLLED in a degree program
that is beneficial to Bay District Schools.
5. Submit all information to the Bay Education Foundation office no later than November 1, 2013.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
If you have received a prior tuition grant from the Bay Education Foundation, you must provide a
copy of the class grade(s) for which the Bay Education Foundation scholarship was used, as soon as
grades are available.
*Beacon Learning Center Alternative Certification program scholarships will be offered only
during the fall application period each year. You MUST be enrolled in at least ONE Beacon
Alternative Certification class to qualify for the scholarship.
All tuition assistance grants are contingent upon available funding and applicants other than
Beacon Learning Center Alternative Certification program applicants must reapply each semester.
Unused funds will not carry over from semester to semester and are payable only to the program
applied for in this application.

and/or for any reason cause the scholarship proceeds to be nonrefundable to the Bay Education Foundation.
Waiver of this provision for emergency reasons shall be at the sole discretion of the Bay Education Foundation
Scholarship Committee.
