Not only does it affect you, but it changes the world around you- no matter how small the change is. Being aware makes it easier to make educated decisions and better to communicate ideas and thoughts with other individuals.

To live globally, you have to be able to think of all aspects in question when making decisions in the world. Making yourself aware is the first step, and you just continue this step over and over. The constant awareness makes you more able to live intelligently.
