Reporting directly to the Refinery HR/L & D Team Leader.
• Manage the delivery of the Competence Assurance and training strategy and support the delivery of
specific training in line with team competency matrices.
• Develop and keep up to date competency matrices for all roles (116)
• Develop suite of “approved” training for each discipline engineering group which is agreed with TA and
meets needs of CMS.
• Collate Training needs from training plans/ succession plans/ PDP’s and work with line managers/
employees to get clear definition on training and development requirements (including Further
education) Identify and implement appropriate learning tools and utilise external training providers as
required , to deliver specific demand to meet individual/ team/ business needs.
• Advise on suitable courses and bring 3rd parties to site where appropriate. Utilise vendor assurance
process via procurement with TA sign off
• Plan and Co-ordinate large and small scale training events.
• Provide internal trainers/SME with L&D professional advice on design, development and delivery of all
training.
• Evaluate internal and external training programmes to provide measurement of success/ embedding of
learning. Make recommendations for future use/ improvement based on findings.
• Ensure the training provided is in line with current legal requirements, and meets all site standards.
• Ensure training is delivered in a fit for purpose way for the audience and look for opportunities to
improve delivery e.g. by incorporating more e-learning
• Produce Metrics on mandatory HSE training compliance, competency matrix compliance and status of
training demand.
• Develop and implement Gold Standard accreditation for all technician Line managers
• Network closely with Refinery managers. And O&P Recruitment/ L&D to ensure the Refining business is
adequately served by the site graduate and apprenticeship programmes. Facilitate delivery of good
quality graduates and EOF (from business demand, through recruitment to early development)
