Photocopier Industry
My trainingputme ina laboratorybutafter12 monthsI saw the bigmoney and joined APECO
(AmericanPhotocopyEquipmentCompany).
I worked forseveral yearsasa photocopiertechnicianuntil Igotthe chance to go to the
photocopydivisionof aBig Australiancompany –REPCO
Yes,Repcosoldand servedphotocopiers,well atleastforseveral months.The division closedand
I was offeredaplace inthe automotive division.
I stayedwiththemfor12 yearsworkinginall divisions,learningSales,BranchManagement and
endingupas the State SupplyManagerfor Government.
After12 years, I decidedtogoback to Businessequipmentasa Manager butfoundI neededto
start as a Technician again.
Printing Industry
I joinedaninternationaloffsetprintingequipmentmanufacturer,AMInternational,asa
Technician andworkedmywayto State Service Manager.IfoundI had an aptitude forfollowing
longflowchartsand relatingthembackto the relaysand switchesinthe printers andwastrained
inMelbourne onthe advancedOffsetPrintingsystemsthatusedrelayandtransistorcontrollers.
Thiswas at the birthof the Microprocessorand the firstprocessorshadfoundtheirway intothe
printingindustry. Bythistime Ihadworkedmyway to State Manager withAMI, butthe company
decidedtostaywiththe old technologyandnotgo withthe microprocessor. Isaw the writingon
the wall and founda positionwiththe newlyopened TandyComputerServices
Tandy wasone of three companies(alongwith CommodoreInternational,andApple) whostarted
the personal computerrevolutionin1977 by introducingacomplete pre-assembled
microcomputerIjoinedTandyComputersas the State TrainingInstructorforWA runningthe
TrainingCentre inSubiacowhere I trainedbothDealersandClientsinthe new technology and
appearedinthe TV advertisinguntil theirclosure atwhichtime i wasluckyto secure a place with
one of the new IBM dealersinPerth

Joinedthe ACIComputerServices(laterto become Ferntree ComputerCorporation) PremierIBM
Dealerinthe late 80’s at the time of the Corporate Boom.I wasemployedtomanage andexpand
the Service Departmenttohandle the increasingsuccessof the IBMcomputerandACI’svery
competentsalesforce. OnleavingACIthe SupportDepartmenthada staff of 5x Hardware
Technicians,3x Hardware Engineers, 2x Network Engineers,1Store person and3x Training
instructors.
As the PremierIBMdealerduringCorporate Boom, Iworkedwitha unique team,meetingand
oftensurpassingSalesandService Targets.The harmony betweenSales, Supportand Storeswas
somethingspecialinmyexperience of workingwith state andinternational companies.
But withthe weakeningof the managementstructure, the lossof severalof the bestSalesstaff
and the reductionof supportforthe SalesTeam from our Melbourne basedheadoffice,my
instinctwasto go outon my own.

witha computerhire company,a printerspecialistandaCorporate ComputerConsultancy.
ACA MicroCARE continued toworkwiththe Mining,Manufacturing,AccountingandReal Estate
Industriesaswell asaddingEducationandNot–for-Profitstoitsgrowinglistof clients.
As the IT industrychangedfromNovell toMicrosoftandfromoffice PCstothe Cloud, ACA’sfocus
movedtosupplyingandsupporting affordable networkingforSmall Businessesincluding the
servers,NASUnitsandCloud Services.

I have startedworkinginthe 3D printingscene onlytofinditre awakesmyinterestinelectro
mechanical equipment, Electronics andPhysics.
3D printingisnotjusta matterof scanningan itemand printingit.There are questionsof whatis
the bestmaterial,isthe material poisonous,isthe material strongenoughevenif the model’s
shape isthe same.Who ownsthe data file (Intellectual Property).If itfails,whose faultit?The
printer,the scanner,the designer,the client…..
Thisindustryhasmany questions andsomanywonderful challenges
