1972 – 1977 North High School Phoenix, AZ My family moved to Arizona to buy
and operate a 7-11 franchise. My parents owned one on 24th
St and Thomas Rd in
Pheonix, AZ and later we owned one in Scottsdale. I was a teenager at the time but I did
everything from pricing and stocking shelves to receiving merchandise from the Vendors
and checking in the invoices, making night deposits, cashiering. Among other valuable
business trade secrets, my Dad taught me that the “customer is always right!”
1969 – 1972 My family managed a small hometown Newspaper called the Canton
Gazette in Canton, Illinois. I worked every weekend delivered newspapers by car during
winter and had a summer (bike) delivery route and from the age of 11 years. I collected
the monthly subscription fees.
