3. Love
Remember: Much of The Bible was written
in two languages, Greek and Hebrew.
The Greeks had three words (or
meanings) for love.
Lets look at them.
10. Matthew 10:37
“He that loveth father or mother more than
Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth
son or daughter more than Me is not
worthy of Me.”
(filio.)
11. John 13: 34
“A new commandment I give unto you, That
ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another.”
(AGAPE)
12. Matthew 5: 43, 44
“Ye have heard that it hath been said , Thou shalt
love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I
say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you,
pray for them which despitefully use you, and
persecute you.”
(AGAPE)
13. What if God had eros for us?
He might dump us!
14. What if God had filio for us?
If we did things He didn’t like, He might turn
against us like some family members do.
15. God has Agape love for us …
what’s that like?
See Jeremiah 31:3
16. Romans 5:8
“But God commendeth His love towards us,
in that, while we were yet sinners , Christ
died for us.”
17. Christ Object Lessons, page
187
“If there had been but one lost soul, Christ
would have died for that one.”
18. Romans 8: 38, 39
“For I am persuaded, that neither death nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to
come , nor height, nor depth, nor any
other creature, shall be able to separate
us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.”
