John Williams is an American composer, conductor, and pianist born in 1932 in New York. He studied music composition in Los Angeles and arranged music for the U.S. Air Force band after college. Williams has composed iconic film scores for many famous movies such as Jaws, Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Indiana Jones, Hook, Jurassic Park, and the Harry Potter series. He has won 5 Academy Awards and 45 Academy Award nominations, making him the second most nominated individual after Walt Disney. Williams has also received 17 Grammys, 3 Golden Globes, 2 Emmys, and 5 BAFTA awards for his film compositions.
