LIBERTY MIDDLE SCHOOL
Innovation Stations
As part of the Innovation 101 unit and to celebrate Liberty Middle School’s Maker’s Space, all 8th grade students
gathered in the media center to participate in Innovation Stations. Students traveled to 6 different stations to observe
current innovations, foster their own creativity, and exercise out-of-the-box thinking.
Stations included:
1. Sphero sprk, a programmable robot in the shape of a ball that students run through an obstacle course
2. MakeyMakey, an invention kit that challenges students to create functioning keyboards out of everyday objects
3. Greeting Card Circuitry, mini-led lights, wiring, and a battery are used to create a light-up greeting card
4. Chip Delivery Packaging, students design and create packaging to safely transport a chip from one school to another
through the mail
5. Chaos Tower, an intricate Rube Goldberg contraption on display as inspiration for students to build their own using
scrap materials
6. Hydroponics, two homemade hydroponic stands growing lettuce and spinach are analyzed. Students are challenged
to turn one into an aquaponics system.
LEARN. PREPARE. THRIVE.
