The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. How I use it in my classroom
In my classroom, I usually do 1 sort a week. I have a few activities
throughout the week before I started Daily 5 in my classroom, I
took 5-10 minutes at the beginning of the day or during stack and
pack to complete the activities.
Monday introduce the pieces/cut out (I have the pieces at
seats for morning work then take 5-10 minutes to introduce)
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
read the room (part of Daily 5 word work, before that I had read
the room as a center) check out my read the room cards resources
that correspond to each sort
speed sort (students use sand timers and beat the clock also done
during word work)
blind sort (take away the categories and sort can be done with or
without a partner also done during word work)
extend the sort (find and record pictures/words to match the
patterns usually completed during morning work/read to self so
that students can look for patterns in text or come up with their own
ideas)
**I like to provide a variety of activities so students don’t get bored
just sorting the pieces. Students self select activities throughout the
week. Only Monday and Friday are the same for all students.**
Friday glue the pieces, spell check (check out my type it out
resources for an easy way to get students to type out words)
Storage
Pieces are stored in a laminated 3 by 6 envelope in journal
The recording sheets are bound together in a book.
3. Included in this pack:
- Alphabet and Vowels chart (both color and black & white, with
and without anchor words)
- Explanation of how I use these in my classroom
- 38 sorts (in both color and black & white)
- Book covers (so that you can bind recording sheets together
for easy storage)
- Recording sheets to glue each sort
- Making words/Skill application sheet to demonstrate further
learning
Additional Resources to Check Out
- Computer activities to support each sort some of these build
basic mouse skills for the early learners (can also be used paper
pencil or typed onto in a pdf)
- Read the room activities to go with each sort
