producida por profesionales de la industria en la isla, me da esperanza. Para comenzar, le
doy mis felicitaciones por su nuevo puesto como director del Departamento de Arte,
Cultura e Innovación en San Juan. Como usted sabe, la isla necesita un impulso, un rayo
de esperanza en el ámbito de las artes para poder desarrollarse como se debe. A
continuación, verá una propuesta enfocada en mejorar esas áreas de deficiencia y abrir
puertas a la comunidad puertorriqueña.
Background and Purpose
Puerto Rico (PR) is a beautiful island in the Caribbean with rich history and versatility in
locations and talent. After Hurricane Maria, the island suffered tremendously and now,
with the COVID-19 pandemic, the vast majority of people are leaving, and the economy
is continuously dropping. Families have lost their homes, struggle to pay the basics such
as a mortgage, utilities, and even providing food to the table. Aside from this, young
creatives and professionals are limited due to the lack of resources in the entertainment
industry. This leads them to leave the island in hopes of professional growth.
Proposed Plan of Action
I am proposing to develop a film production studio in San Juan called VTX
Entertainment. Not only is this going to attract tourists, since PR does not have an official
film studio, but it will aid the overall economy of the island. In addition, the studio will
provide job opportunities to those unemployed families and college students that are
specializing in areas related to this industry. The studio will produce original content and
will partner up with existing production companies to broaden the creative field. Content
distribution would be done through partnerships with Caribbean Cinemas, TV Networks,
and potential online streaming platforms. After the studio is up and running, I would like
to provide scholarships to those students that are interested in this industry and don’t have
enough money to pay for their education. This would provide a sense of hope to them and
convince them to stay on the island because the opportunities are available.
