This document provides ideas for letter games that can be played in the classroom, including: 1) A quick 2-round version of Scrabble where students each get 6 random letters and take turns adding words to a board for points. 2) Boggle, where students arrange 16 random letters in a 4x4 square and find words of adjacent letters within a time limit. 3) Words with Friends, where 12 letters are used to form words for points based on word length.

1. LETTER GAME IDEAS & CLASSROOM IDEAS
1 – 2 round QUICK Scrabble.
1. Allocate 1 student as a scorekeeper
2. Teacher will have to be the word checker if there is any argument.
3. Each student gets 6 letters out of the box and keeps them hidden from their
classmates and a number. The number lets you know when is your turn.
4. Teacher puts up a word using letters.
5. Student number 1 goes first and adds their word to the existing word on the board.
Adds up score.
6. Second student adds their word, adds up their score… and so on.
7. If you have a small class students may come up and replace the letters they used with
the same number of new ones for a second round.
BOGGLE.
Get students to pull out 16 letters and arrange them on the board randomly in a 4x4
square.
They have a set time to find words in sequences of adjacent letters.
WORDS WITH FRIENDS
Put 12 letters on the board and see who can come up with the most words, as well as
the longest words. Use boggle scorecard.
