LED lights were first developed in 1907 through experiments with electroluminescence. The first infrared LED was created in 1961, but the first visible LED bulb was invented in 1962. LED lights have numerous advantages over incandescent and fluorescent bulbs such as being safe, long-lasting, energy efficient, and providing consistent light. They produce less harmful emissions and are becoming increasingly popular as the lighting market shifts toward their efficiency and affordability.
