2. A reading from the holy Gospel
according to St. Luke 9:10-17
When the apostles returned, they
reported to Jesus what they had
done. Then he took them with him
and they withdrew by themselves to
a town called Bethsaida, but the
crowds learned about it and
followed him. He welcomed them
and spoke to them about the
kingdom of God, and healed those
who needed healing.
3. Late in the afternoon the Twelve
came to him and said, “Send the
crowd away so they can go to the
surrounding villages and
countryside and find food and
lodging, because we are in a
remote place here.” He replied,
“You give them something to eat.”
They answered, “We have only five
loaves of bread and two fish—
unless we go and buy food for all
this crowd.” (About five thousand
men were there.)
4. But he said to his disciples, “Have them
sit down in groups of about fifty each.”
The disciples did so, and everyone sat
down. Taking the five loaves and the
two fish and looking up to heaven, he
gave thanks and broke them. Then he
gave them to the disciples to
distribute to the people. They all ate
and were satisfied, and the disciples
picked up twelve basketfuls of broken
pieces that were left over.
The word of the Lord, thanks be to
God.

8. Jesus Commissioned His Apostles
HOW?
A) REPENTANCE, OR A THOROUGH CHANGE OF WILL AND
PURPOSE.
B) BAPTISM
C) LIVE THE FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
“Make disciples of all nations”
9. Jesus Commissioned His Apostles
HOW?
A) BAPTISM IS THE PRIMARY SACRAMENT THAT SETS
THE FOUNDATION OF CHRISTIAN LIFE.
B) BAPTISM ----- IMMERSION.
“Baptize them in the name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
10. Jesus Commissioned His Apostles
HOW?
THE APOSTLES CONTINUED WHAT CHRIST WAS
DOING DURING HIS PUBLIC MINISTRY.
“Teach them the Christ had Himself commanded.”
12. Rejected, tortured and
even executed.
These men brought a
message from their
Master. Jesus warned
them of persecutions,
but He also told them
not to be afraid.
13. Jesus instructed His apostles to make
disciples by baptizing them and teaching
them everything He taught the apostles.
This work of the apostles is continued in
the Church.
14. In the Gospel reading, Jesus needed someone
to hand him something in order to feed
thousands of people.
Jesus was able to feed us with God's words,
through His apostles.
15. What can we offer God so He can make use
of us to feed His hungry people?
16. "Courage doesn't mean you don't get afraid.
Courage means you don't let fear stop you."

17. Many of us face more subtle forms of persecution in the form
of discrimination. We have our own struggles in following His call.
This is because being an apostles of Christ is not easy. The same
way, once we say and do the right thing, we may experience
rejection. But like the apostles, we should remain faithful and
bring the values of Christ to them. If we die with Christ, we will
live with Him. We know at the end of our sacrifices, there is joy.
Imitating the Values
of the Apostles
18. Do I stand for the truth even if I lose friends and get enemies
instead?
Do I stop doing the things that I know are correct if others
start to bully me?
Am I going to still follow God despite the persecutions I get?
We have different takes when it comes to hardships and rejections.
If we are going to examine ourselves with these questions, what is
our response going to be?
