JCI Philippines, founded in 1947, is the oldest leadership development organization in Asia with over 6,000 members across 200 communities. It operates on the premise that individual character development leads to improved communities and a more peaceful world. Members are described as "Entrepreneurs in Action" who are willing to take risks and learn to better serve others. The newly elected National President implemented plans to focus on training, entrepreneurship, and family reintegration. Programs were conducted nationwide to renew interest among inactive trainers. The organization also paid membership dues and renovated its national headquarters building to preserve its history.

1. LEAVING A LEGACY
JCI Philippines, more popularly known as
the Philippine Jaycees, is the oldest leadership development organization in Asia.
Founded in 1947, the organization is now celebrating more than a half-century of
active participation in national building through its continued commitment in
the development of young leaders. JCI Philippines currently has an active
membership base of 6,000 young professionals and entrepreneurs in over 200
communities, from Isabela to Basilan.
The Jaycees operate on the premise that the development of the individual
character and personality will result in better communities and eventually, a more
peaceful world. The organization may be described as one that comprises
“Entrepreneurs in Action”, as its members are all willing to take risks and learn from
their experiences to improve their individual growth in the service of others.
WINNING AGAINST HIS closest rival
under a platform of transparency, National President Dennis “Decu” Cunanan lost no
time in putting to motion his new plans for Junior Chamber International- Philippines.
Continuing to adopt the “Entrepreneurs in Action”, which is a major project and

2. vision of JCI, the national leadership identified three major areas with which to
pursue its programs: training, entrepreneurship, and the re integration of the family
into the organization.
To streamline a more comprehensive training program, it revived the post of
National Training Director to compliment the functions of the National Training
Commission (NTC) in implementing special programs. The product was divided into
five separate sections: “Trainovators, Reinforcement, Intervention and Innovation
Programs “(T.R.I.P), which were conducted in Lingayen, Manila, Cebu, Legazpi and
Caragayan de Oro in order to renew the interest of the inactive trainers. Through
the initiative of the NTC, the JCI ACHIEVE Seminar was introduced to Philippine
shores for the first time in August 6, 2005; an updated NTC Policy Manual was
drafted and approved; and various seminars were conducted nationwide.
It was also able to pay dues worth US$41,500 to JCI. With a renovated building in
place, the national leadership program spent considerable efforts in transforming the
national headquarters building into a mini-museum of sorts. It opened the Gallery of
“National Secretaries-General” on May 20, 2005 and worked to preserve its old
records by upgrading its archiving facilities. To ensure the upkeep of the
headquarters, a “Wall of Honor” fund-raising campaign was re-introduced,
while corporate sponsors Caltex, PLDT, Mirant and PCSO were tap to fund its
flagship projects.
