Apprenticeship Levy
 Apprenticeship Levy was introduced in May 2017
 Employers with an annual pay bill of more than £3m will pay a 0.5% levy,
this is calculated on total salary bill
 The amount of levy made available to employers is to be based on the
proportion of total employees who are based in England
 Employers who pay levy but whose levy allowance does not meet full
apprenticeship training costs will be required to pay 10% of any excess
costs. This is assessed on a monthly basis
 All of the above is managed via the Digital Apprenticeship Service
Utilising the Levy
 All apprenticeship standards and frameworks are allocated to 1 of 30 funding
bands, ranging from £1,500 to £27,000
 An additional payment of £1,000 will be paid to the employer and provider for
all apprentices aged 16-18
 Learners can be funded for a qualification at the same or lower level than
previous qualifications as long as they gain new skills
 The cost of training is spread over the lifetime of the apprenticeship, taken
automatically from the digital account and sent to the chosen provider
