MISSION To provide temporary sanctuary and rehabilitation for these un-owned horses, and then to adopt them to pre- screened, appropriate new homes. • LEAN partners with animal control agencies to provide immediate relief for adoptable animals through a network of volunteers. Horses are kept in established, pre -approved foster homes and cared for by members of that barn, with financial support by LEAN. The animals are legally owned by LEAN. • Potential adopters submit to a rigorous application and barn inspection. Adoption is a process, not an event
