Francophone refers to nations, groups, or places where French is primarily spoken as the main language. French can be found on every continent except Australia. There are over 30 countries where French is either the primary or a secondary language spoken. Some areas where French is spoken include Quebec, Canada; Louisiana, United States; Martinique and Guadeloupe islands; French Guiana in South America; parts of Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland in Europe; and countries in Africa like Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. French is also growing in importance and presence in countries in Asia like Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
