This document summarizes the results of a questionnaire given to students at St. Andrew's Catholic School. The results show that the audience is fairly evenly split between male and female, with a slight majority being female. Most respondents, 90%, are under the age of 21. The majority of respondents, 8, are students. None of the respondents hold a magazine subscription currently. Only one respondent had considered subscribing to a magazine. The most popular genres of music among respondents were pop and metal. The most popular promotional offers were digital options like MP3s and the most recognized rock magazine was Kerrang!. Respondents indicated that edited images seem to convey a stronger sense of power than actual images.
This document summarizes a study on the role of cycling in improving urban air quality in European cities. It finds that cycling measures can help reduce emissions and improve air quality when implemented as part of a comprehensive package of measures aimed at reducing road traffic and private motor vehicle use. The study reviews case studies of cities that have promoted cycling and estimates the potential impacts of increased cycling on emissions and air quality in three cities. It concludes that mode shift measures like promoting cycling can provide air quality benefits but are unlikely to be sufficient alone to meet all EU air quality standards, and require complementary technical and policy measures to maximize their effectiveness in improving public health.
This document summarizes a study comparing fiscal regimes for commuting by different modes of transport in 11 European countries. The study finds that most countries favor commuting by car through tax benefits for company cars. It recommends establishing more favorable tax treatment for active and sustainable commuting modes like cycling and public transport to create a more level playing field. Specific recommendations include introducing tax incentives for cycling to work where they don't exist, expanding successful programs like Belgium's bike commuting reimbursement, and replacing subsidies for car use with mode-neutral solutions like mobility budgets. The study aims to inform policymakers seeking more sustainable and equitable fiscal policies for commuting in Europe.

The document provides information about various bioinformatics tools for DNA sequence analysis. It describes tools for finding protein coding regions like GeneMark and GENSCAN. It discusses tools for predicting promoters like SoftBerry Promoter and Promoter 2.0. It outlines how Tandem Repeat Finder can detect tandem repeats and how RepeatMasker can mask interspersed repeats in a sequence. It also discusses UTRScan for finding UTR locations and CpG Islands for detecting CpG islands. For each tool, it provides the procedure and interpretation of sample results.
In reaction to the global financial and economic crisis that started in 2008, job creation has become a main priority of EU policy. In this context, ECF has decided to commission academic consultancy Transport & Mobility Leuven to carry out a study that quantifies the contribution of the cycling sector to job creation in Europe.
This document outlines the process of constructing phylogenetic trees to delineate relationships among Coronaviridae species using protein sequences. It describes:
1) Choosing nucleocapsid and membrane proteins as molecular markers and collecting sequences from NCBI.
2) Performing multiple sequence alignment on the proteins using MUSCLE in MEGA, which is more accurate than ClustalW.
3) Selecting maximum likelihood as the tree-building method because it uses all sequence information without reducing it to distances and makes fewer assumptions than other methods.
This document summarizes a study examining the "flypaper effect" of increasing federal education revenues on local school district expenditures. The study exploits changes in 2000 to federal Title I and IDEA funding formulas that made allocations more dependent on the number of students eligible for free/reduced lunch. Using this as an instrumental variable, the study finds that each additional dollar of federal education funding increases total per-pupil expenditures by $1.68, including $0.69 for instruction and $0.99 for non-instructional expenditures. This provides evidence that increasing federal revenues do significantly impact local school spending, indicating a "flypaper effect."
The Leadership Programme enabled several European cycling advocacy organizations to strengthen their advocacy efforts and grow their organizations. Many groups were able to hire staff for the first time or expand existing teams, allowing them to increase membership, coordinate advocacy campaigns, conduct outreach, and engage in political lobbying. As a result, the groups have seen successes in advancing cycling on the local and national levels in their countries.
The storyboard establishes the setting of a pub where the main female protagonist slaps a male antagonist who was harassing her. It then shows the antagonist's angry reaction and others in the pub reacting in shock. Later scenes show the protagonist receiving threatening text messages from the antagonist. She becomes frightened and is comforted by her love interest while seeing the antagonist watching from outside. The storyboard ends with the antagonist holding a gun while looking menacingly at the camera.
This document contains research and planning by a student named Feargus Bracken for a poster promoting their film project. It discusses potential themes for the poster including conflict, obsession, and breakup. It also outlines ideas for graphic techniques like using a gun sight effect, blurring edges, and adding hashtags to synergize with social media. The conclusion states that photos will need to be taken and editing techniques researched to manipulate the photos for the poster which will be designed in Adobe Photoshop.
Twitter is a social media platform that businesses can use to market themselves and engage with customers. The tips include listening to industry conversations to learn, regularly communicating to increase awareness, quickly responding to customer service issues to build good reputation, interacting with influencers to raise the business's profile, focusing 80% of tweets on interactions and 20% on promotions, letting your personality shine through informal communication, and testing strategies to find what works best.
This document presents the design of a modified wheelchair that allows disabled people to move independently over various terrains. The wheelchair is designed to climb stairs, use escalators and elevators, and traverse uneven and rough terrain. Key design elements include a 3kW motor, gear-driven drivetrain, rack and pinion steering, reclining leather seat, and linkages that allow the wheelchair to climb a 60 degree grade. Detailed calculations are shown to analyze the required torque, driving force, and power needed to overcome resisting forces at different angles. The design has potential to be a feasible and good solution that meets standard criteria.
NASA's Nebula cloud computing platform began in 2009 as an internal project to provide on-demand computing resources for NASA researchers and reduce costs associated with underutilized servers. It was later open sourced along with Rackspace to form OpenStack, one of the first platforms built by the US government for cloud computing. Today Nebula provides cloud services across multiple NASA centers and continues to work on expanding access and capabilities to better support NASA's missions and research goals into the future.
