This document provides a summary of the manuscript "Lancelot Proper: Banc MS UCB 107". It is the third and longest section of the Vulgate Cycle, a major source of the Arthurian legend written in French prose between 1215-1230. The manuscript is housed at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley and describes the birth and upbringing of Lancelot, his arrival at King Arthur's court, his love for Queen Guinevere, and his friendship with Galehaut. The identity of the original author is obscure but was likely one of several Cistercian monks who composed the Vulgate Cycle, with one main architect devising the overall outline.
