When used as the sole source of information about people, labels describe only one aspect of who they are. For example, while Uncle Fred may be seen as a biker, he could also be a weekend bartender; and Aunt Jennie, though seen as a librarian, is also a champion athlete who suffers from learning disabilities. Generalizations should not replace considering people's full experiences and identities.
