How music affects to our memory?
Aim
I want to know how music affects to our memory. I will use three types of sound. One is noisy
music, another is quiet music and the other is nothing ( without music )
Hypothesis
I expect quiet music is the best music to memorize well. Someone who listen quiet music may
appear the best conclusion. Also someone who listen a noisy music may appear the worst result.
For examples, When we listen to quiet music, we can feel comfortable, and it helps brain works
well. However the noisy music may disturbance brain work well. Also it makes our concentration
is not clearly. That’s why I expect that quiet music may appear the best result.
Variables
Input variable: Music ( noisy one, quiet one, no music )
I will use 3 kinds of music to5 people. I will give 3 kinds of music to each person to measure
more correct.
Output variable: Time
I will measure it by using stop watch. I will measure same time to each person.

2. Control variables
Control variable 1: kind of game
I will keep it the same by using same website. The website is about memory test games.
Control variable 2: place
I will keep it the same by using same room. Different room (place) can affect the people’s
concentration.
Control variable 3: kinds ( titles) of music
I will keep it the same by using same kinds of music.
Materials:
- stopwatch
- a macbook which is accessed in the memory game website.
- a paper to write down the record.
- Lucky ( By. Jason Mraz -> quiet music ) – As we speak ( By. Soilwork -> noisy music )
Method:

2.Prepare a memory game to experiment
3.Give music to each person
4.Before the experiment, I need to check volume of my Macbook
5.The test’s rule is ; make they play a memory game with listening music
6. ( I will play the music until they finish the game )
7.Start the test with measuring times with stopwatch
8.After finishing the test, compare with each person’s time
9.Write down the result of the test and make a result

Conclusion:
Before experimenting, I expected the result of the test. I though the persons who did
experiment with listening comfortable ( quiet ) music may appear the best result. Because when
we listen a comfortable music, we become calm and I think it is good for memorize something.
Comfortable mood is better to memorize something or to concentrate than noisy mood. Noisy
music make our cannot concentrate well.
I experimented my memory test with five friends, and they appeared different results each
other. Some people appeared the best results with noisy music. However the others appeared
the best results with comfortable ( quiet ) music. My hypothesis was a little bit wrong.
Anyway, according to my experiment, almost people appear a good result with comfortable

5. ( quiet ) music. And also according to some articles and searches, comfortable music can give
some effects when we concentrate.
Evaluation:
Before experimenting, I was sure that the result of comfortable music’s might be the best. But I
noticed it was a little bit wrong. Some friends appeared the best conclusion with noisy music.
According to the article that was read by me before, comfortable music must appear the best
music. However exception always exist. I think they usually enjoy that kinds of music. That’s why
my experiment has errors. Next time, I will expect more carefully.
Errors:
1… The planning of the memorize that I planned before the experiment, I though the plan needs
to much times. So I fixed the plan at the gate of .
2… I measured wrong levels of game. So a person had to do one more time.
Difficulties:
1… The game that I gave to my friends to experiment, I think it was a little bit difficult to some
friends. I mean, Before to start experiment, I explained how to do that, but my speaking ability
is not good.. So they did confused a little bit. That’s why I played the game to explain how to do
that.
2… I forgot the titles of songs that I will use to experiment. I couldn’t anything about the titles.
So I decided the titles on the brink of experimenting.
3… The first time, I planned using cards to the test. However i judged that needs to many times.
That’s why I fixed my plan. I stopped midway experimenting, I planned a new plan and I
experimented. So I did not have enough time. It is the reason that I had difficulty and be busy
experimenting.
