Contemporary ceramic artist

4. What does the sculpture look like?
Abstract styled piece made out of porcelain
clay with china paint glaze
Inspired by the styles of old master’s
paintings
A dented sphere shape
Plays tricks on the eye
5. Analysis:
You can walk around the sculpture as it is a dented
and curved sphere.
The shape for one is quite unusual. A demented
sphere.
There is a wide variety of detail used in the artwork
e.g. the woman’s face and background has been
painted smoothly and neatly, the brush strokes are
clean and not obvious
Movement is represented in the picture continuously.
The direction of the woman’s head makes the eye
follow and open up to the rest of the work.
The artwork gives the effect of the woman swallowing
a tree
There is a definite sense of harmony in this work e.g.
the earthy and deep colours used.
6. Interpretation:
Weiser’s artwork is based on the relationship
between man and nature.
His idea Continental Drift was to create a
contemporary ceramics piece inspired by the
style of old master paintings.
This artwork reflects a peaceful and quiet mood,
which relaxes you.
The artwork makes you have the desire to study
every detail.
The aspect of the natural world is reflected
throughout this artwork. E.g. the colours used
represent trees, mountains, water and the sky.
The woman appears to be lying atop a landscape
of mountains, with the top of a tree escaping her
mouth.

8. What we like about this
piece of artwork:
We love the detail he’s put into it and the
depth of it.
We love that the piece reflects so many
emotions through every detail of the piece.
It has really detailed pictures painted onto
the abstract sphere.
It is really abstract and interesting as it
plays tricks on the human eye.
It’s a very effective and beautiful sculpture.
9. We’re really glad we
chose this artwork and
we hope you enjoyed
