Figurative Artist reasearch

  1. 1. Francis BaconIrish born, British figurative painter. His abstracted figures typiccly appear isolared in glass or steelcages ses against flat backgrounds. From the mid 1960’s he mainly made portrait heads of friends. This is an abstract painting, Francis has made the person inthis drawing look like he is being tortured, the dark colours of purple and black captures the darkside of the image. My personal opinion about this painting is that it is a well captured especially wenshowing off the mental state of the subject. This is an abstract painting, Francis has captured the mentalstate of the subject well with the way its expression and placement of the head, as to look like thecharacter is screaming out. My personal opinion on the drawing is that yet again it a very dark andemotional drawing.
  2. 2. Gustav KlimtHe was an Austrian symbolist painter, he is known for his paintings, murals and sketches, whichfocused on the female body, giving a signature of eroticism. This is an abstract painting, the artist has capture the femalebody using a variation of drawn eyes, possibly to symbolise the vainness of women. My personalopinion of this is that it is a well done abstract painting. This is an abstract painting, the artist hascaptured the expression of love in this painting by drawing a man and woman being close together. My personal opinion of this drawing is that it is not that good of an abstract painting.
  3. 3. Picassowas a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer who spent most of hisadult life in France. As one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, he iswidely known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture. It is an abstract painting; I think the mood is a happy one, withthe colours he has chosen. My own personal opinion is that, I think it is a weird way to show awoman with a flower. This is an abstract painting; I think the mood is warmsince there is a blend of warm colours (being yellow and orange). My personal opinion is that it is agood looking image.
  4. 4. Eric ZenerEric Zener is an American photorealist artist best known for figure paintings of lone subjects, often in or about swimming pools. His paintings, mostly in oil, are in a photorealist or "super-realist" style Zener describes as "Contemporary Renaissance. It is a realistic painting;the picture gives off acalming mood with the colour and expression of the two subjects. I think this painting is very realisticand looks amazing. This is a realistic painting, all of zener’s paintings aretaking by or in a swimming pool so all of his work gives off a calming mood. I think the picture isgood, although the bubbles gradient seems a little be hard to capture.
  5. 5. Jason deCaires TaylorJason deCaires Taylor is an English sculptor specialising in the creation of contemporary underwater sculptures which over time develop into artificial coral reefs. This is a contemporary art, the artist has capturedthe detail of a house well with this sculpture. My opinion of this work is that it is well detailed and avery creative way to make art. This is contemporary art;the artist has captured themood of security by the statues holding their hands together. My personal opinion on this piece isthat it is very dramatic piece.
  6. 6. Jacques-Louis DavidJacques-Louis David was an influential French painter in the Neoclassical style, considered to be the preeminent painter of the era. This is a realistic painting, the artist has captured thevibrant intensity of the scene with the deep red of the clothes if the men along with then weepingwomen on the side. My personal opinion about this painting is that it’s a great image ofcapturing thescene. Well detailed. This is a realistic painting; the artist has done well to capturethe mood with the background weather and landscape, showing off the subjectsferocity with a sbegging-of-charge horse.
  7. 7. Gustave Courbet Jean DésiréGustave Courbet was a French painter who led the Realist movement in 19th-century French painting. The Realist movement bridged the Romantic movement with the Barbizon School and the Impressionists. This is realistic portrait, the artist has donewell to capture the topology of the persons face and clothes detail. I personally think this is a verygood picture. This is a realistic painting, the artist has done well tocapture the intense mood for the scene with the dark clouds and strong waves. I personally think thisis a good detailed painting.
  8. 8. Thomas EakinsThomas Cowperthwait Eakins was an American realist painter, photographer, sculptor, and fine arts educator. He is widely acknowledged to be one of the most important artists in American art history. This is a realistic painting; the artist has done well with tones to get the atmosphere of the scene, the background being very dark meaning that is not the main subject, the ring being very bright meaning that’s the subject in this painting. My opinion on this image is that it is well done. This is a realistic painting; the artist has done well the colour variations creating the right gradient for the water colour and sky. My opinion is that this picture was colours very well creating right tones for different objects.
  9. 9. Fabian PerezFabian Perez is an artist born in Buenos Aires. He currently resides in Los Angeles and is known for his paintings of the tango and for his portraits. In 2009 Perez was named the official artist of the 10th annual Latin Grammy Awards. This is a realistic painting, the artist has given the sense of erotica with the body of the woman, wearing a red dress. My personal opinion is that the artist has captured the skin and dress tones well as well as the shadow to light transition is done well. This is a realistic image; the artist has done well to capture the shape of the man’s clothes. As well the transparency of the glass. My opinion about this image is that it’s well done, the tones are right and I like how h has drawn the flame of the match.
  10. 10. George BellowsGeorge Wesley Bellows was an American realist painter, known for his bold depictions of urban life in New York City, becoming, according to the Columbus Museum of Art, "the most acclaimed American artist of his generation". This is an abstract painting; the artist has done well to show what is going on in the scene with the horse going wild. My opinion about this image is that, the artist has done well trying to show the buildings on the side and the smoke coming off the vehicle. This is a realistic painting, the artist has expressed the mood of a silent night by the green and black colour tone. I personally like this picture because of the dark scenery in the background and the one light in the foreground just producing a green gradient light.
