Krishna and Balarama arrive in Mathura city, which is described as beautiful with gold doors, jewel-decorated houses, and lush gardens. They are welcomed by Brahmins and the ladies of Mathura admire their beauty from their rooftops. Krishna and Balarama have interactions with a washerman who angers Krishna, and with the florist Sudama who offers them flowers and prayers in devotion. Sudama requests Krishna's blessings of devotion, friendship, and compassion.
