RECOMMENDED
RESTAURANTS IN
THE CITY:
2. Kremówka papieska- this is the favorite dessert of our
Polish pope, i. e. John Paul II. It is nothing more than a large
amount of vanilla cream placed between the puff pastry. Its
name comes from our pope, in whose honorhe began to call it
that.
9. 3. Krakow’s Kiełbasa - Poland is famous for many
types of delicious sausages. However, smoked ones
will always be associated with Krakow. And rightly so,
they are created using lean pork, and as spices are
used pepper, salt, coriander, a little bit of English herb
and garlic. Krakow’s sausage is a great delicacy that
tastes best with a salad or freshly baked bread.
WSB
4. Maczanka krakowska - We can also meet with the
name "grandmother of burgers". It is a traditional
delicacy that has become a popular street food over the
years. In the classic version of Krakow’s maczanka
bread and meat formed a separate whole. Nowadays,
however, popular is a version that resembles a popular
burger.
5. Krakow’s Duck - Red, juicy and extremely tasty
pieces of Kraków Duck prepared in butter and served
with velvety, thick, mushroom-cream sauce and
porridge is a delicious compositionthat will appeal to
almost everyone!

that reminds of childhood times, crispy waffles

11. The Wawel Hill is one of the most recognizable and most
visited monuments in Krakow. Visiting the Hill can be divided
into two large modules – the sacral part, connected with the
Royal Cathedral of St. John. Stanislaus BM and St.
Wenceslas with the adjacent Cathedral Museum. John Paul
II, and the secular part, connected with the monarchic
power, that is, in general — the royal castle with all available
exhibitions.
WSB
St. Mary’s Basilica has always been the most important
church in Krakow. This is the so-called parish — the main
church of the city. The cathedral was associated with the
power of the bishop and the monarch, while the St.
Mary’s Church is a bourgeois temple — everything that
took place in it, all architectural changes and other
investments were based on the pockets of ordinary
inhabitants of Krakow.
12. Sukiennice — the central building of Kraków’s Main
Market Square is one of the most recognizable
buildings in Kraków. It is worth to know that the name
“sukno” comes from cloth, one of the basic goods that
could be purchased here. Cloth is a woolen material
made in a special way, nowadays rarely used, but we
can see it, for example, on billiard tables
WSB
Kopiec Kościuszki is the most famous of the four
Kraków mounds. Kościuszko himself was closely
associated with Krakow; he stayed here several
times, among others, he had just issued the act of
insurrection here, he took his oath on the Main Market
Square on 24 March 1794 (which was commemorated
with an appropriate plaque), and in Krakow’s Old
Synagogue Kościuszko spoke with bima.
13. Teatr Słowackiego - This most famous theatre in
Krakow dominates its monumental structure in the
building of St. John’s Square. A ghost. It was built in an
eclectic style, but clearly referring to the native
architecture (a repetition of the masquerades from
Sukiennice!) in the years 1891-1893, the architect was
Jan Zawiejski. However, it should be remembered that
the decision to build this new municipal theatre was
extremely controversial.
WSB
Ołtarz Mariacki — The work of Vit Stwosz is often
regarded as the most important work of art that we
have in Poland. The Polyptych of St. Mary is one of the
largest Gothic altars in Europe. It is worth mentioning
that in 1442, the vault of the church collapsed, and with
it the old main altar disappeared. When a new,
elevated presbytery was erected, the townspeople
also decided to fund a new altar.
14. WSB
The Church of St. Andrew - one of the oldest in Krakow,
dazzles with the beauty of racial Romanism. This impressive,
two-towered building, serving not only religious but also
defensive purposes (it is worth noting the narrow windows
which are in fact shooting holes) was founded at the end of the
11th century by the all-powerful palatine Władysław Herman-
Sieciech. In the 14th century the care of the church was taken
over by the Clary sisters, who moved here from the village of
Skała (near Ojców). The church suffered many times from
severe fires.

this day.
