Korah and around 250 other leaders rebelled against Moses and Aaron's leadership over Israel, claiming they had taken too much authority. God responded by having the earth swallow Korah and some other rebels, and fire consumed the rest. This showed God's support for the leaders he had appointed and served as a warning against rebelling against divinely ordained authority. The lesson is that we should honor and respect the leaders God has chosen.
