Anba Abraam was brought up as a good Christian and became a monk at age 19. He lived a humble and pure life devoted to prayer. He was ordained as a priest and later became the abbot of his monastery. As abbot, he improved the monastery both spiritually and physically. Anba Abraam was also known for his great charity - he gave abundantly to the poor, orphans, and widows. Some monks disapproved of his spending but he was devoted to caring for those in need as commanded by God. He was later ordained as Bishop of Fayoum and El-Giza and performed many miracles during his life and after his death.
