Myth: Habitat for Humanity gives away houses for FREE.Truth: Habitat for Humanity offers affordable housing and no-interest loans to qualified applicants.
Three Qualifying Factors for Habitat Applicants:Demonstration of need Ability to payWilling to partner
Habitat doesn’t just build houses..-In response to the bursting of the housing bubble, Habitat has purchased and renovated foreclosed properties to rehabilitate and sell to qualifying Habitat applicants.  A Brush with Kindness- To help prevent foreclosures, Habitat also offers  a Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention program.
A retail chain that sells surplus and slightly used construction materials that would otherwise end up in landfills.  Proceeds fromReStore help fund many Habitat projects.
Our chapter’s local affiliateTwin Cities Habitat for Humanity receives600applications & places50families in new homes every year.Started in 1985 and is now one of the top 5 US affiliates
Our Chapter Became official student group at U of M in 1989 (22 years!)
 In 1998, membership reached 100
 2010-2011 Membership exceeds 200!
