Karnataka is one of the 29 States in India and emerging as an industrial super power of the Country. The State has
30 Districts and 176 Taluks. Over the last 100 years the State has the distinction of building a strong and vibrant industrial
base, which combines the intrinsic strengths of Large Industrial Public Sector Undertakings, Large and Medium privately
owned Industries and a very wide and dispersed micro and small scale sector. Karnataka is among the top five industrial
states in the country. The State has a host of Large Industries ably supported by a strong base of Micro, Small and Medium
Sectors. KIADB has developed 157 Industrial Areas in 30 Districts.

Encouragement to SC/ST Entrepreneurs
• Earmarked 22.50% of the allotable area in all
Industrial Areas developed after March 2009.
• Rebate on the Cost of land ranges from
Rs. 15 lakhs to Rs. 35 lakhs as per the zones
classified in Industrial Policy 2014-19.
Reservation of Plots
• 20% of the allotable area in all new Industrial Areas for
MSME Industries.
• 5% to Women Enterpreneurs
• 5% to Minorities, Backward Classes (Category-1 & 2-A only),
Physically Challenged and Ex-serviceman Entrepreneurs.

Board[KIADB]isastatutorybody,constituted
under Sec. 5 of Karnataka Industrial Areas
Development Act, [KIAD Act] - 1966, which
provides for expeditious acquisition of lands
for industrial and infrastructure purposes.
KIADB, besides forming layouts with all
infrastructure facilities for promotion of
industries, also acquires lands in favour of
various State & Central Govt. Departments/
Organizations and Single Unit Complexes,
for setting up of projects on stand alone
