Project Overview
The Keystone Library follows the Indiana Building Code (2014). This building code is based
on the International Building Code (2012). Depending on the fire-resistance rating of the
building components and the construction of the interior walls, the Keystone Library could
be Type I, Type II, or Type III. The Square Footage of the proposed building is 9,424ft sq.
The exterior is made from brick because of its fire-resistant properties, the same applies to
the interior walls. The Library will be composed of 2 floors, the ground floor, the 2nd floor,
and the green roof. The Library will also have a parking lot and many trees in the outside
area.
Land Use Overview
The maximum height for the Keystone Library is Three stories or 35 ft (per Table 6—
Summary of Commercial Bulk Requirements, section 159.107). The minimum parking lot
size is 20,000 sq ft. (per table 6 Summary of Commercial Bulk Requirements, section
159.107 of the Noblesville Code of Ordinances) The Keystone Library falls under the
designation of a PB (Planed Business) District. This would allow the Library to successfully
be built. The ground floor and the 2nd floor is not allowed to have any exits.
Wall System
The best option for a wall
system for the Keystone
Library was a Cast-in-
Place wall. This was the
best option for the library
because this wall system
would have fire-resistant
properties. This wall type
would also be cheaper
compared to other walls,
and it would also be very
durable.
Roof System
• They Keystone Library includes are low-
pitched roof since it will allow any
rainwater to fall off the roof and onto the
ground. In my Keystone Library I used a
Compact Ceiling because it is durable,
cheap, and requires little to no
maintenance. The Keystone Library is also
equipped with a green roof which adds
color to the library. This green roof is also
very beneficial to the environment. The
green roof has 14 big trees and about 8
small trees.
Floor System
Floor systems for residential and
commercial buildings vary because of its
purposes that the floor needs to fulfill.
Residential floors cannot hold up to the
standards that commercial floors are held
up to. The library's floors are made from
concrete because of its budget friendly
cost, durability, and looks. I chose to have
carpet flooring on the second floor
because of its looks.
Parking Lot
The parking lot for the Keystone Library is composed of 5 parking
spaces. The arrows show the direction where vehicles should go. The
parking lot is composed of asphalt because it is cheap and there is
almost no maintenance required. The size of the parking lot is 13,872sq
ft.
Plumbing Plan
Electrical
Plan
The Electrical Plan for the
Keystone Library consists of
outlets every few feet
around the building. I also
have a few switches to turn
on and off the lights. I have
GFCI Protected outlets in
areas where water could get
into the outlets. GFCI outlets
could be seen in the Kitchen
and the restroom.
HVAC Plan
My Keystone Library has 3 Condenser units on the outside of the
building.
Finished Interior
Landscaping
Plan
The Keystone Library landscaping plan includes many trees. These
trees help prevent water loss and helps keep the building cool by
providing shade. The trees also provide a pleasing view for those
who are passing by the library. The Library is also surrounded by
Palm Trees.
